The world's second-ever octuplets were born

I'd love to see the look on her face when she gets the letter from the welfare office saying that they are cutting off her welfare checks and WIC and her food stamps! I bet she will be all :run: and :jaw: and :dizzy: and :Ohno: and

Yeah, I wonder if this woman used fertility treatments for the first 6 children. Nevertheless, they should have said NO after baby #6. Especially with the risk of causing multiple births, which already happened. Now she has 14...8 of which are currently in very fragile shape.

Yes, they were all conceived in vitro.

So any of the first 6 children that she had, was a result of that previous in vitro treatment that you just mentioned? And then they still had left over embryos from that treatment, and implanted 8? Wow. If I understand this correctly, this is a huge ethical violation.

When that happens, she and the kids will become homeless, then the kids will be taken away to foster care, and, again, the taxpayers will have to foot the bill for their care.

This is just freakin' crazy. Everyone has their view points on their beliefs and such. The question comes to play is if this woman being implanted with so many embros is right or not? I mean it isn't about abortions, isn't about wefare checks.

i think it's wrong. at the same time, the discussion of abortion is pertinent to this thread given the fact that the health of children the mother carries is dependent upon whether or not abortion is committed in the first place.

Maybe she will be forced to make the decision to place each baby with adoptive families, instead of riding on the taxpayers' money. She's getting a free ride right now with all her children. I don't think that is right.

Same, I dont agree which I think it was irresponsible of her to get pregnant in the first place!

Off the top of my head, I'm remembering that she has 2 sets of twins, and 2 single births.

Well, since she already had a couple of multiple births in addition to two single births, they should have cut her off after baby #6. Enough is enough, since bigger multiple births carries a huge risk.

If mutli birth are so dangerous, why are they implanting so many embryos at once?

The vast majority of fertility specialists won't. Standards of practice say 4 at most, but recommend even fewer. The reason they implant more than one in any case is to increase the chance of one embryo surviving and being brought to birth.
