When I brush my teeth, I catch myself gazing at the little note on the mirror...

"I love you sweetheart!"

When I sip on coffee, I secretly smirk at the sticky on the fridge...

"I love you to the moon and back!"

-A little preview of the sappy notes that are exchanged between my parents.-

Normally I would stick a finger in my mouth and pretend to gag at the corniness, but I'm no longer in my teens. I sigh at that crap nowadays!

Which brings me to this question, is romance merely a fairytale for you? Or do you enjoy surprising your significant other with random acts of kindness :) have any stories to share with us? I want some real sap dang it! Who knows, I may need the ideas when I drop the pepper spray in a year or four.

I'll use my sister as an example :P her boyfriend lived in New York at the time and asked me about her favourite "chick flick". He forced himself to watch Sleepless in Seattle through clenched teeth and figured out how to propose to her.

On top of the Empire State Building! (Which... if I remember correctly, is an important setting in the movie)

She melted, well... froze from the cold air (typical Californian).. and accepted of course :)

So guys... it pays to know your girl's chick flicks!

I'm leaving out a lot of mushy details but c'mon :eek3:

:io: I'll be pepper sprayed in world record of 5 minutes within from you

I have some bad news and good news. The bad news is that 5 minutes won't be a world record time. My friend Jason got pepper sprayed by the police within 30 seconds of their arrival. The good news, you have a great chance of beating that.

BACK onto the topic.

Sap attacks - I have a lot of things you can do to be just out right romantic.
First - the chief rule is: KNOW the other person. There is nothing wrong than making that mistake - (big example, screaming the wrong name in bed.)

Things like.. designating a day every month to be your "Valentine's day"

Dropping by at the other half's work place just to give her a card or chocolates or flowers.

show them you do think of them and you think they're the best thing in the world is the best thing in the world for them to feel. Think of things to make it show.

still thinking....

Dad calls Mom "Pussycat" still to this day even after 40 years of marriage.

Hubby and I love to tickle each other as well do throaty hugs and our favourite thing to do is cook together. We just love being with each other. We were friends first before we dated.

Wow, thank you for your help Barry!! Oops, I mean (shifty eyes) Matt

I had monthly anniversaries (the 19th) until we were together for 20 months, then he admitted that I was just plain LOONY for wanting to celebrate our 21 month anniversary. Mah goodness, I just wanted an excuse for a date night

So it's interesting to see you mention the monthly "Valentine's Day"

See? I'm learning already!

I gotta say, I resorted to the cliche "AW!" when I read your post. Tickling sessions, throaty hugs, fine dining, and friendship? You've got it good, congrats!

ah-ha... here's my confession :mad2:

I'm very good at gift & dedication part. I'm pretty thoughtful with it and I know exactly what she likes and I would go out of my way for her. :ily:

however my biggest flaw in relationship - I'm not good at cheesy romance part like sending a bunch of flower to work or leaving a corny love note on mirror. that's just not me. It takes much effort for me to do this and it's exhausting but I'd do it if it's what she wants :dunno: Suffice to say - I'm not for girl who expects much from me and I don't expect much from her either except trust and companionship. I don't do stuff out of romance novel but I do stuff that will make handful of porno video shameless :naughty:

I call a bluff.
Proof.

Sometimes in the middle of the night I will spoon up close and cozy next to the wife and start dry humping her.
