OK..just in case you are bored..try this.

"Four jolly men sat down to play,
And played all night till break of day.
They played for cash and not for fun,
With a separate score for every one.
When it came time to square accounts,
they all had made quite fair amounts.
Now, not one has lost and all have gained -
Tell me now, this can you explain?"

:hmm:

.

:giggle: depends on what they've been playing, or am I missing something?

Each person won a round?

and ended the game at that?

Hmmm... I will ponder this one.

Lottery?

Either that I am thinking a Bingo game. Or if they added up to the Ante in a card game. They played for money. but the game was not described that they played.

Dont mind me just having some random thoughts. :giggle:

a pro ball player that plays for money. Each one scores differently. And they all gain a paycheck.

BTW this is fun! stefan.

Would a pro ball player "sit down" to play??
But, good thinking...you are getting there!

Sit down at the Slot machine. All scores differently. All play for money. and all possible to gain Money.

I suppose! I'm sure there are quite a few answers to this!
The one I had was...

The four jolly men are members of an orchestra hired to play at a dance.

Well done! Babyblue!

.

Cool.. I have one. Let me dig it up. A math teacher gave us this one.

A king told the groundskeeper he wanted some trees planted on his land. He specifically said he wanted 5 rows with 4 trees in each row.

Groundskeeper ordered 20 trees to do so. He was frantic thinking he will be beheaded when he only received 10 trees. So he thought for a while, and succeeded.

The king was pleased. How did he do it with only 10 trees?

:hmm: This is taxing my brain...I'm thinking it has something to do with
crisscrossing the rows??..I'll need pen + paper to check it out!

Yes... crisscrossing has a lot to do with it.. so far so good. Let me know when you give up...Or figure it out. :)

GIVE UP!!!.......NEVER!
Almost have it...drawing squares..triangles..ect..ect..the answer is here somewhere!

Got it..at last! although it took me 1/2 hour with pen + paper!
Draw a star..plant a tree at each angle..5 rows with 4 trees each.

Good one!

.

I'm thinking about a star-like shape but still don't know how to figure it out since I only get 9 into 4 rows.... :mad2:

A beer for you!!

You got it..

Your turn for the next riddle

Thanks B/blue!...as you seem to like maths :giggle: try this!

Which number comes next in this sequence:
1 - 4- 7 - 11 - 15 - 19 - ?
