Post your WEI score for Windows 7 here.

New Intel SSD screams

I just upgraded from a WD Caviar Black 640GB to a Intel X 25-V. My wei score jumped from 5.9 to 7.5. This drive screams. I am planning to get another and put it in RAID 0.

Wow, SSD is no suit for PC gamers unless SSD with big data is coming but it will be expensive.

Yup, SSD is still expensive. Don't see the price falling until atleast 2-3 more years, maybe 300gb models is standard that time.

SSD is great bang for the buck upgrade. Almost like change from crap cpu to great cpu.

Heres some of mine from random systems I build the past months.

Above i7 920 1366, I forget what vidcard I used this one, 6gb 9-9-9-24, 7200rpm

E3300 for LGA775 is best cpu for performance. Cost of cpu is $30-40 new.

Hi Guys,

My WEI score below.

egzm2e.jpg

I am running Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit with spec list below.

Motherboard - Asrock P55 Pro LGA 1156

CPU - Intel i5 750 Quad 2.66ghz stock speed (overclock to 3.8 ghz now)

Memory - G.Skill 2x2GB PC3 15000 (1866)

Video - Msi Nvidia GTX 260 896MB

I got the lowest score from my old 2 IDE hard drives, They are running 7200 RPM with 2 MB or 8 MB cache (Maxtor sux) , plan to buy 2 new hard drives with Sata II 300 along with 16 MB or 32MB cache

UPDATED, I bought 3 new SAMSUNG Sata II 300 with 16MB cache, They are good and reliable drives, I will wait for SSD in few years with prices go down and a better implement with Windows 8 :P

Overclock cpu from 3.8 to 4.0 with 19x213 stable.

Little improved score Below (pix) than old score above.

I notice hard drive cache size don't really say anything in the WEI.

I had 7200rpm drives in all my test, but a few of them I used 32mb cache drive instead of 16mb. No difference, score is still 5.9.

but 5400rpm vs 7200rpm however, score drops.

I was plan to buy drives with 32MB cache but changed my mind to get 16MB cache instead, money wise and performance.

E3300 is Celeron?! Hard to believe.

Cool!

By the looks of those... Consider running those tests on a system that has a very fast HDD. :) (ie, an Intel X25 Solid State Drive (SSD))

lol, same here. I ordered ATI 5870 1GB with turbo. too expensive.. ack!

Ah, you ordered a HIS card, which is also the same as mine. But, your card might be a bit faster than mine, because I don't have turbo. :)

They are expensive cards, but hopefully it will last a long time. Technically, the 5870 is a bit of an overkill for me, because I am only using it on a 22" monitor. I am not complaining though. :)
