"The US president signed the bill at the White House alongside Janet Napolitano. It will pay for the hiring of 1,000 new Border Patrol agents to be deployed at critical areas along the border, as well as more Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. It also provides for new comuunications equipment and greater use of unmanned surveillance drones..."

NOW maybe they will just shaddap. :P

1,000?

:laugh2:

Yup if each catches 460 a year Arizona should be safe...... :laugh2:

In unrelated news obama was overheard saying "let them eat cake"

A stitch in time saves nine etcetera. :)

So you would have been ok with BP placing some putty in the well????

A stitch in time refers to a corrective measure. Only one stitch is needed at that time.

With illegal immigration this is putting a stitich where 1,000 stitches are need. That won't hold very well.

That is incorrect. It means to spend a little time with problems or act right now than wait. :)

Not exactly....

It means it is better to correct the small problem now rather than have to correct a bigger problem later.

Example..... a small tear in cloth can be mended by one stitch.....but left alone that same small tear will grow to the point of needing nine stitches to mend it.

It never suggests that if you already have a tear requiring 9 stitches that one stitch will do any good....

Nice backpedalling, but that is not what you said. Busted. No biggie. :)

Those say exactly the same thing....

Let me help you

It means using corrective measure while the problem is small rather than waiting and letting it get bigger.

Point was the problem with illegal immigration the problem is ALREADY big...... therefore hiring 1,000 border patrol agents is the equivelent of adding one stitch to a problem that needs many. Just like adding a little putty to the oil leak would be adding one stitch to a problem that is beyond a one stitich fix.

A stitch in time refers to a corrective measure. Only one stitch is needed at that time.

Obviously.....and

Saves nine= a greater corrective measure will be needed if it's not corrected now.

Ok, let's argue semantics.
To CORRECT a problem means fixing it in its entirety. You cannot "correct" a tear in some fabric with a single stitch. You have to go whole hog. Obviously the single stitch is to prevent the tear from enlarging, so you can correct it at a later date. The same thing with what Obama is doing. He obviously will attempt to fix the tear on our border.
That help? :)

How about, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure?" :giggle:

And I say again.... adding one stitch to a problem requiring many won't hold.

1,000 Border patrol agents is a token effort. It accomplishes nothing. Par for the administration. Pun intended.

Please one saying at a time.

I am sure obama is likely to say don't look a gift horse in the mouth.....

It's necessary here though because this effort has no teeth at all.

Over half a billion dollars goes into this stitch, which includes communications equipment and unmanned surveillance drones, so it DOES have teeth. :)
I am sure that Obama will admit it if he made a mistake, unlike some others.

Very unlikely

Nope, just the vision. Just as was intended. :)
