From the NY Times: Obama Takes Iowa in a Big Turnout as Clinton Falters; Huckabee Victor

Senator Barack Obama of Illinois, a first-term Democratic senator trying to become the nation’s first African-American president, rolled to victory in the Iowa caucuses on Thursday night, lifted by a record turnout of voters who embraced his promise of change.

The victory by Mr. Obama, 46, amounted to a startling setback for Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, 60, of New York, who just months ago presented herself as the front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination. The result left uncertain the prospects for John Edwards, a former senator from North Carolina, who had staked his second bid for the White House on winning Iowa.

Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Edwards, who edged her out for second place by less than a percentage point, both vowed to stay in the race.

“They said this day would never come,” Mr. Obama said as he claimed his victory at a packed rally in downtown Des Moines.

On the Republican side, Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas who was barely a blip on the national scene just two months ago, defeated Mitt Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, delivering a serious setback to Mr. Romney’s high-spending campaign and putting pressure on Mr. Romney to win in New Hampshire next Tuesday.

Mr. Huckabee, a Baptist minister, was carried in large part by evangelical voters, who helped him withstand extensive spending by Mr. Romney on television advertising and a get-out-the-vote effort.

“Tonight we proved that American politics is still in the hands of ordinary folks like you,” said Mr. Huckabee, who ran on a platform that combined economic populism with an appeal to social conservatives.

Mr. Huckabee won with 34.4 percent of the delegate support, after 86 percent of precincts had reported. Mr. Romney had 25.4 percent, former Senator Fred D. Thompson of Tennessee had 13.4 percent and Senator John McCain of Arizona had 13.2 percent.

On the Democratic side, with 100 percent of precincts reporting, Mr. Obama had 37.6 percent of the delegate support, Mr. Edwards 29.8 percent and Mrs. Clinton had 29.5 percent. Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico was fourth, at 2.11 percent.

Just curious, Why are you concerned if Obama becomes President?

No he isn't. He was asked about it and he said if he was, he would tell you. He's a Christian.

He's lying. If he is telling everyone truth that he is a muslim, nobody would vote him.

Based on his father's background, his father is a Muslim.

Another little evidence:

I believe he is a muslim, but not as in one hundred percent. He is hiding his muslim somewhere to his background. I would just keep watching him. :hmm:

How is that picture evidence? It may just caught him right before he placed his hand over hand over heart.

and just cause his dad is a muslim doesn't mean he is. Alot of people have gone into different religions that is different than their parents.

If you want to show proof. Gotta be concret proof!

It came out from my point of view. I'D be more than happy to know if you oppose with my opinion.
It is impossible to prove since his backgrounds are fixed.

Personally, I lean more to Republician. It is to Republican advantage for him to be elected by Democrats.

But if provide proof, gotta be more concret.

Take that tinfoil hat off your head. You're making a fool out of yourself. The thing is, we already went through with this and he repeatedly said that he's a Christian. If people don't believe him, don't vote for him. It's that simple.

Myself, I wouldn't vote for him because I think he's inexperienced. Though he already has proven himself to be a leader since there's already a lot of people rooting for him. Still, I wouldn't vote for him.

I'm an independent voter in Canada, I vote for who I feel is the best candidate. Though in Canada, we do it differently. We vote for the local representative, not the prime minister. The party with the most seats won become the minority or majority party and the leader of the party will become the Prime MInister.

That ought to make it easy to pass laws since they won't be arguing against each other like here in USA if President is Republician and congress majority is Democrate or vise versa.

That's one of the flaws with the American Congress. If the majority party are made up of Democrats while the President is a Republican or the other way around, you can expect a lot of headaches.

True but also don't get stupid laws passed as easily either.

There is advantages and disavantages of both ways.

That comment was not necessary.

Exactly, that is what I am doing that right now.

It's not that easy passing laws in Canada. Especially if you're a minority party because the opposition parties can create an alliance and vote against you.
