While on vacation I had brought two tickets for MegaMillion. Turn out I won close to $300 but I have found out I can not cash them in Texas, where we also have MegaMillion. I'm told I have to return to Tennessee where I brought the tickets to cash them. That is a long way to go back but I might just have to do so.
Anyone out there have a similar situation?

That's an odd situation. Can't you claim them online?

Have you call lottery agency in TN? I think you have to mail the win lottery to TN and you will get check or direct deposit to bank account.

No, I don't have similar situation but I do have an suggestions. I believe you could just mail it to the lottery agency the state you bought the ticket from and they will sent you the check?

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I've taken Foxrac 's (Outsider made the same digestion later on) digestion and contacted Tennessee Lottery. Turn our they only take care of their own state lottery, as I'm told each state does the same. This is why Texas can not help me. Now I have to contact MegaMillion directly.

Hope my experience helps all to know to be careful when buying tickets.
Powerball is way over $200 million and I'll make darn so sure my tickets are purchased in Texas ($10 limit on myself).

Those MegaMillion tickets are good for a year, or a very long time. Am I right? Hold into them so that you can cash them the next time you go there.

Just mail it to me :giggle:

I am serious, if you are willing to pay for my gas there and back, I will buy a money order and mail the rest back. You have all these AD members as witnesses.

Never bought one in Tennessee but usually you can mail them in. You just sign the back. You can even do this with sportsbook tickets from Nevada. I do that all the time.

Oh wow, I can't believe that lottery agency in TN is helpless because you bought lottery ticket in TN. Do your lottery ticket has instruction on back? I believe that you can send via mail and they will send a check via mail.

Sure, it isn't hurt to call MegaMillion.

It probably would cost you as much as the ticket is worth to drive there and back!

Sighs.

true story.

When I was in fifth grade, the M&Ms chocolate candy company offered a 1 million dollar prize or something like that if you found a rare M&M in the chocolate bag (gray M&M). At lunchtime, my classmate was eating M&Ms. He offered me half of it... but before he did that, he told me, "if there's a gray M&M chocolate candy in there..we split the 1 million dollar prize 50:50." I shook my hands on the deal.

I DID get one M&M chocolate candy in the bag!!!!!!! I won half million dollars!!!!!

I put it in my pocket.

I celebrated shaking soda and spraying it everywhere

Five minutes after, it disappeared.

I lost $500,000 dollars.

My classmate was about to win one million dollars.. but I messed it up

I received feedback from MegaMillion and now have an address to where I can mail the tickets to them for my prize to be mailed to me. Thank you everyone for your suggestions.
Like I said, hope we ask learn something about buying tickets while on the road.

BTW: Nashville and Opryland were great, don't worry about being deaf...there is much more than just music.
