Because natural condoms can have holes (not large enough for semen to pass through, but enough for HIV to slip through), yes, you are at some risk.

However, 95% of the condoms you'll find in a drug or grocery store are latex. The remainder are non-natural alternatives for people with latex allergies- these do protect you against HIV as well as latex condoms.

I would be very, very amazed if someone managed to find a natural condom in a non-specialty retailer.
 
OK, now how can I be a homophobe by making a statement about whether or not condoms protect against HIV???

And FYI - I have three friends who are openly gay and I have no problem with it whatsoever.
