jodi arias: who is the admitted AZ killer

I had to google Amy Fisher.... "Long Island Lolita"... disturbingly interesting :ugh:

Pretty sure that much more men did commit a whole lot on different level, and little is reported as usual.. at least in US.

Uhm, Amy Fisher's in pornographic industry. Okay...

i learned that jodi and deceased guy were mormons my friend who was ex mormons point out about it.

I was wondering the same thing.
Who is she and why is she a big deal and why should I care about her?
The news sure loves to report on her.

Top concern: media needs viewers to gain revenue
Others: It's one of the few women who will likely receive the death penalty. The men:women incarceration ratio is about 9:1 and the death penalty for men:women is about 50:1. The amount of brutalizing in this case is also attention grabbing.
Least concerns: she's fairly young, attractive, no prior criminal record.

Yup, I think they weren't very serious about religion though. Some of the things they did were against the wishes of their teachings.

Yeah, it was against their "teachings"...or the teachings by the teachers of the Mormon faith....but...:giggle:...it still goes on...

From what I saw about it all, the boyfriend actually was using her for Sex...pure and simple...but told her she was not the "type" of girl he would want to marry....Seems she didn't take this too well, tho'...

Arias finished her 19-minute PowerPoint plea for life.

Judge is reading the final instructions to the jury.

Next, closing statements by Defense and Prosecution.

Then, the jury will decide life or death.

a powerpoint plea? odd.... gotta find a video clip to see what's it like

If I were juror, I will decline the death penalty.

Why? I don't want give her what she wants, which is freedom.

Her quote below

"I said years ago that I'd rather get death than life, and that still is true today," she told Phoenix television station KSAZ. "I believe death is the ultimate freedom, so I'd rather just have my freedom as soon as I can get it."

Jodi Arias: Spare me | HLNtv.com
If the jurors decide not to sentence Arias to death, Stephens will either sentence her to life in prison without parole or life in prison with the eligibility for parole after 25 years.

so now she wants to live? how bipolar'ish she is...

They'll probably play it over again, and post it. I haven't checked yet but most of the coverage is thru HLNTV.

Well, not exactly PowerPoint slides but she stood at a podium and showed overhead slides to illustrate her very cold, lecture-style allocution. She didn't beg for mercy, or cry out in remorse for her actions.

As a college graduate, her presentation will probably remind you of some boring instructor you've had.

She shed a few tears for her family (after throwing them under the bus during her earlier testimony).

During her allocution, she also mentioned how if she got life she could help all those lesser women prisoners with her various talents. (Gag!)

Oh, and she donated her hair to Lots of Locks, and will continue to donate thru her life.

Everyone was shocked when she held up a "survivor" t-shirt that she designed as a fundraiser for domestic violence. She got one last "dig" in when she stated that some people didn't believe she was a victim of domestic violence. I could almost sense the jaws dropping on that one.

During her allocution she changed her mind. She wants life now. She said she didn't have the right perspective about death before.

She isn't alone doing that, there are other convicts, much worse than her was expecting death penalty and got pissed off that he got life sentence instead.

On May 8, 2006, Moussaoui filed papers with the federal court in Alexandria, Virginia requesting to withdraw his guilty plea, stating that his earlier claim of participation in the September 11 plot was a "complete fabrication." He said that he was "extremely surprised" that he was not sentenced to death. "I now see that it is possible that I can receive a fair trial even with Americans as jurors," he said.[46] However, federal sentencing rules forbid pleas to be withdrawn after a sentence has already been executed, and Moussaoui had already waived his rights to appeal.

Zacarias Moussaoui is much worse than Jodi.

For me - it will be tough decision - I may give her a choice - life sentence without parole or death penalty and let her make decision.

If her decision isn't allowed so I may go with death penalty and let her fight to overturn or not, however she will not executed until 20 years.

Well, the jury is split on the life/death decision. It drags on. :(

Aside: Arias claims that she taught herself sign language. Today, on live TV, she was seated in the courtroom before the session started. Out of the corner of my eye, in a quick glimpse, I thought I saw her smile at the uniformed guard and sign MEDICINE MANY MANY. She then smiled and chatted a little more but didn't sign again. I wish I had paid attention so I would know if that's what I saw. Did anyone else catch that?

I still stand, don't believe in any kind of execution. However, I am not comfortable with her idea of giving her hair to lock of love. It does sounded creepy to me.

Wow, what happen if split? have to verdict again?

Juror will be replaced with somebody else as I recall though media. Judge can not decide on this part.

Oh wow, in my state, our judge can override the juror's decision.

If jurors decided to not give a death penalty so judge can override and order to sentence to death penalty.
