Hundreds evacuated in CA after dangerous explosive found

For years, I knew one of the better adjusted Vietnam veterans and it is from him when I first learned of the devastating Daisy Cutter......

Yup, I don't want these scumbags and terrorist find out how they make Daisy cutters. I have no idea what it is exact like but what you find on web is as much as what I know.

And those who do the final assembly can never tell a soul what they did or where. Employees and military people like these are those that are high ranking, and are capable of keeping secrets pertaining to national security. If one does spill the beans, isn't that punishable by death? Because treason is a death penalty crime.

Correction: High ranking personnel due not assemble, they observe or supervise. Low ranking people do the assembly. They assemble mines, torpedoes, bombs, missiles and install the same into submarines, aircraft, etc.

If you talk publicly about secrets on the outside, you will be punished. Not by death.

If you sell secrets to another government, you will be imprisoned. No death.

Keeping secrets is not by rank. I have seen Senators, admirals, and generals let things slip more than any of the lower ranks.

The BLU-82 conventional bomb (aka Daisy Cutter) has been around since the 60's. There is nothing secret about it.

You have to have the ability to build a giant bomb,an aircraft large enough to carry it, and have refueling capabilities to get it there. Not many countries can do that.

Was there any more info on that CA town? What was found?

I don't think a MOAB (15,000 lb) bomb was just sitting there on a sidewalk.

I am just a Vietnam era veteran. So I must be.......sane? :laugh2:

I was at the park with my last dog and saw this small metal object shaped like a small bullet on the ground and it said it was explosive . I marked the spot by poking a branch into the soil and went to find a phone . A city truck was on the road and I flagged him down. I told the guy what I found and he checked it out and told me if a kid had thrown it at tree they would had gotten hurt badly . Two more city trucks showed and the guys looked to see if there was anymore of those objects .
I am glad no one got hurt in Ca.

Looks like an artillery shell in the picture, I only quickly glanced at it though.

You're talking nuclear bombs. The US used two atom bombs to end the war against Japan in 1945, and they were carried by planes like those cargo planes you mentioned.

Here is a picture of a B-29 bomber that would carry nuclear bombs during WWII:

photos of b-29 bombers - Ask.com Search

Designations for your use:

B (bombers) such as B-17, B-29, B-36, B-58, B1, B2
C (cargo) such as C-130, C-17, C-141, C-47
F (fighters) such as F-16, FA-18, F-14
A (attack) such as A-10
T (trainer) such as a T-38

combination designations like the FA-18 means the plane has a dual role capability. If there is a letter code with it, it means modifications. The B-52H bomber has had 8 major mods. Hope that helps.

,

Yeah, actually it does. I learn a little bit everyday, but military related stuff, I wouldn't know where to look or how.

Just ask. I probably can answer it if I see the post. I am not on here all the time due to my work, school, and missions with the Patriot Guard riders. Reba sometimes has to get my attention. :cool2:

Damn you over-reaction! I thought it would have been MOAB (Mother Of All Bombs).
MOAB? it's just an artillery round.

you cannot really mistaken it as MOAB because MOAB is basically..... the size of a bus or bigger.

This thing is very common in Germany, many still not found yet and ready to Kaboom. Sometimes they were forced to kaboom there when the bomb squad couldn't defuse these bomb due to instability or rust, then have to blow up at that spot. Rule of thumb, always defuse the bomb before moving it, failure to do so, one's life depends on how they move it because if bomb is "fused" and if one small bump its over, pretty much.
that sounds confusing... rule of thumb? but... you said sometimes they can't defuse it because of rust or instability....

Do you have an idea what MOAB is? At first I thought it was MOAB because the way it sounded like, evacuated at 1,500 feet radius, That is circle of over half a mile. MOAB can level at that size, this one would level only maybe 500 feet circle. Don't worry I know it is not your fault.

MOAB is world's largest conventional bomb, only military has them.

Daisy cutter is even more lethal, its intention was to flatten large field so can have military plane land on. For example, drop Daisy cutter on mid size city, that mid size city will be gone, and ready for plane landing in matter of minutes! Scary? Yeah!

they evacuated people not because of the size of the bomb.

All right. I can do that, no problem. Just gotta watch the questions, and what is appropriate to ask and what is not.

eh I'm not concerned if terrorists found a blueprint of assembling MOAB or daisy cutter. they don't have any resource to do it. why bother anyway when they make do with IED?

oh you silly one.... we're not in medieval age where everything is punishable by death.

Oh boy, the "blueprints" are attainable, it's the manufacturing process that is beyond their comprehension, but they can assemble dirty (radioactive) IEDs.

That's why radioactive stuff at hospitals are under strict lock and key, and those with certain clearance can get them, but I'm not sure what kind of cleaance would be needed to handle them, or how they do it. I dunno how they determine who can handle the stuff. I would imagine special precautions would need to be taken, but I have absolutely no idea.

no.... it's not weapon-grade... chemotherapy cannot be used for bomb, ya know...
