How many czars in White House?

The problem is, there are no czars. At least not in this country. You are terribly confused.

Well, it's true that there are 32 czars. I have read about this the other day before Kokonut made his own thread here. Obama have caused too many chaos and create a castastrophe in this country. Too many people are now protesters against him over health care czar... the next will be food czar. I ain't surprised when it comes.

Well, Obama is already the far left. Even more left than those considered "far left." How ironic.

I know czars aren't communist. However, Joe Average will associate czars with Russia and therefore with communism.
If that's true then American history education has failed them.

Did not even Joe Average learn about the Bolshevik revolution in high school?

Unfortunately either Joe Average didn't learn about it or doesn't remember. There are people that think the U.S. has 52 states. Those are the kind of people that will hear "czar" and think communism.

I'm afraid you're right on this one. I don't know a great deal about the Russian Revolution but even I know that.

Better than pretending to know what ragtime is about and then get pwned in the process.

Back to the czars topic.

Here's NYTimes half-hearted attempt to defend Jones and doesn't quite fully explain the full story.

What's pwned? If you were attempting "owned", you certainly didn't accomplish it. Is this a particularly confusing day for you?

Now, back to the topic. Just as the conservatives have attempted to make socialist the substitute for the word no thinking person uses, but the one which we all know they mean, this use of czar is simply another attempt to substitute a word someone wants to use, but can't (at least not in polite company). Blatant attempt at manipulation, pure and simple. Just taking the myth of the "big black buck" that was used to scare the hell out of whites in the 1920's and apply it to this situation. It is nothing more, nothing less. The only difference is the attempt to be covert in the process.

Let the Rush-oholics have the politics. I am enjoying this great holiday weekend!

And this is exactly what we constantly see happening. I constantly hear "socialist" as an insult, as if it's automatically a bad thing. Same thing happens with "communism." So many people just equate socialism and communism with "bad" and capitalism and democracy with "good," without really thinking about what each type of government really entails.

You clearly are not a gamer are you, Jillio? Pwn is a widely used phrase in gaming circle especially in player vs player circles. It's become a mainstream phrase among the younger set.

To the point that my screen reader even reads "pwnd" as "owned." :giggle:

Hmmm...got pwned over the spelling of "pwned." How ironic. LOL.

Swords into Plowshares

Indeed. The United States is a republic. But with all the czars appointment it's looking less like a republic form of govt meant for the check and balances they're known for. "Always looking for a rule to get around a rule."
