Hi i need help

We got hearing members within our community. If a deaf person got a problem with it, it's their problem. Not yours.

If I find out I'm hearing are you guys going to hate me ? I'm not trying to be mean.

No - but I'd leave off your hearing status in your profile until you get a proper audiological assessment done. "My GP says I might be deaf in a year" and "I'm actually deaf" are two very very different things. Deaf (small "d"), medically speaking means having +90db of hearing loss.

We unfortunately get a lot of "gawkers" and people pretending to be something they aren't, which is why we're cautious ... the best way to make sure we don't read you wrong is to be completely honest - ie you have a history of hearing issues and your doctor thinks you might be losing more hearing.

Ok thanks I'm in my iPad so I can't change it now I don't know how to change it on my iPad

Hey I'm just wondering is there away that a hearing person give up there hearing and become deaf, but give there hearing to a deaf person ???

It is better if you talk with your parent(s) about your hearing problem and that you went to the doctor who told you that you will be deaf within a year without ever going to ENT or Audiologist. First of all your doctor (medical doctor) should have send you to the ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) specialist to check out your ears and other ear tests.

Then at the audiologist like in the hearing aid center, he or she will give you hearing test in a special booth (soundproof) to see how much hearing loss you have lost. If you say that you are hard of hearing but not deaf enough for you to hear but you might have hearing aid(s) to hear some environment sounds.

If nothing is wrong with your hearing, then you can relax and feel a big relief that you are not going through deafness.

So good luck and give us your update on your hearing tests. :)

You are not making any sense on asking this question. If you lose your hearing from disease like measles or smallpox or high fever or very loud music (anything could happen to your hearing if you lose it).

As for giving hearing to a deaf person, no, I hope not. There will always have CIs for the profound deaf. Some hard of hearing and/or deaf might want to have Stem cell someday to make the hearing whole which is impossible for that to happen. We are against that. Hearing people should accept us being d/Deaf and our Deaf Culture (Deaf communities).

If you are going to become late deafened, you will have a long journey into the deaf world. It may not be pleasant as you are use to being hearing all of your 15 or 16 years of your life.

That is the problem with you hearing people saying that you feel sorry or pity us for being hard of hearing or deaf. We don't need pity or have you say sorry at all. We are not unhappy (unless with some hard of hearing or deaf who were told by parents or authorities saying that being deaf or hard of hearing is bad). That is like being brain wash for hard of hearing and deaf children and adult. That is wrong for hearing people to belittle into making us feel bad about being deaf. It is not our fault for being deaf or hard of hearing as we are the ones that can adapt to being deaf.

Don't feel sorry for us. Don't, don't do that. Just let us be who we are being comfortable in our Deaf communities. We love to use ASL to communicate with them without struggling trying to understand hearing people with lipreading and not be able to speak clear English language. Don't ever make us change to make you feel better that you think we can hear with the help of aids and thinking that lipreading is one hundred percent understandable which it is not. You have not study the Deaf Culture and Deafness to understand and learn from it.

You have a lot to learn about deafness. If you don't like the forum here, then you are welcome to leave anytime you want to go. Just don't make us do what you want us to be like a hearing person. That is all I have to say.

Yes, we have some late deafened members here. Doesn't mean they gave up hearing. Some got sick and lost hearing.

Why do you feel sorry for them? I am a superior entity...

Deaf people don't really need pity.

No I don't want to be pity but I think I want to get deaf.

If you're referring to Switched at Birth tv show, it's a script, doesn't mean it's real life. It's a way to educate every one about the Deaf culture and the ASL language. So I'm curious to why you feel bad about those people who are Deaf? Everyone of us is human being regardless. :)

I'm trying to to pity them. I have never met a deaf person in my life and they make the deaf people on tv shows really sad

Yes I am referring to that show, ok well I'm trying not to defend anything or anyone, but deaf people are humans I agree and they shouldn't be treated any less better than anyone or anything
