ugh...my doctor suggested that I try a gluten free diet to see if that helps my stomach woes. I've lost around 15 pounds from not being able to eat and having what appears to be IBS. I will have to get a scope to diagnose it and rule other conditions out. On top of those issues I also have food posioning...LOL, today is NOT a good day for me!

I looked up the gluten free diet and I did not like it at all.
it looks impossible to stick to.

Is there anyone on here who is on the Gluten Free diet? It appears that the doctor is wondering if I have Celiac disease. I hope not...I like the food I eat.

Is there anyone here on a gluten free diet? if so, how did you start it ( gradually or all at once ) and how have you managed? It seems impossible to go out to eat on the diet but is it? I love, LOVE eating out.

Also, my husband is against him being a part of the diet as well. I'm sorry but I will not cook for two people. Do you? Or does your husband/wife take part in the diet as well?

having what appears to be IBS.

Forgive my really bad memory, but do you have the runs or the opposite?
If you have the runs, does that happen right after, even during or shortly after eating?
Or it doesn't matter?
Did your doctor check you for Habba syndrome ever?

It's relatively new, and not every doctor know about it.

It's not after I eat persay. It's only in the mornings and isn't always "the runs" as gross as this sounds.... it's a yellow color. Really, really yellow and just doesn't look normal. It's a cross between the runs and a typical bowel movement and then other mornings it truly is "the runs". I have really horrible stomach pains in the morning, and feel very nauseous. Thought I was actually preganat last month and freaked out. I had my tubes tied so the chances of getting pregnant are slim but regardless I still tested and it was negative...thank god.

I don't think it's habbas syndrome. I looked it up and it doesn't sound familar although it's part of the IBS mine is not after a meal. I did eat dinner and it's been 5 hours since and I'm still doing ok. Albeit, my stomach is uncomfortable and I just feel really tired and lethargic. Almost like I have the flu but I don't.

Udi gluten free bread is great.

I'll take your word for it. I looked up gluten free food at my local krogers and I will be getting a few things just to try before I take the full plunge. Udi, is that the brand name?

I will ask my doctor about the habbas when I see him, the specialist when I decide to go, a GI doc. I hope it's just the run of the mill IBS. That can be managed but Celiacs disease?

eh, no. hell no.

Udi, yes. The one in the blue wrapper is the good gluten free bread.

Also Schar Naturally Gluten-Free pasta is good. You can buy it on Amazon if you can't find it locally.

Well, I just asked about the Habba's because it is relatively new as I've mentioned, and many doctors still don't know about it.
But from what you've described, indeed it doesn't look like it.
But of course, it doesn't hurt to ask the dr.

Well one of the reason why the poo could be very yellow is if you have
pancreatic insufficiency.
pancreatic insufficiency, in turn, can be related to any other things
celiac disease included.

What is Pancreatic Insufficiency

It's just one of the reasons, doesn't mean you have that, of course.

btw, I remembered that Squirelly have some flour free breads. Also Healthy Way.

I use to cook rice bread or buy it to cut down my gluten intake. I know a person that has really bad arthritis and he can't eat wheat. I tried not eating wheat or gluten and had a time giving it up. Can you drink milk OK?

calcium from leafy green vegetables like broccoli, spinach, cabbage, kollard greens, help digestion

If you have good access to a variety of groceries, going gluten free isn't too hard. I have stayed with relatives and ate that way for months at a time and have quite a few friends who have ceiliacs(sp) disease.

The hardest part is eating out and prepackaged/processed foods.

I have a gluten free cookbook around here somewhere which includes dessert and bread recipes. If you want I can look for it and give you the name. Plus google is good for recipes of all kinds.

*sighs* hard to eat well when you're a college student...I wish I can eat plenty of good healthy food but not bust my bank account.

eat lots of fruits and nuts. No preparation needed. Also, hardboiled eggs are great source of protein and cheap:wave:

Thanks for the advice everyone! For the milk question I love milk. I go through about two gallons of it a month so no issues there. My stomach and other areas have calmed down over the last couple of days so I'm going to put off going to the G.I doc until it flares again. To doug-I bought eggs today :). The recipie book I'd love to know the name so I can get it. I've looked up recipies online but would prefer to have a book and since it's obviously used it must be a good one!

I like omelettes with tomatos and spinach.

Im thinking of gviing up milk. I only use it my coffee. Been trying to cut back on coffee but like it too much.

It really sucks that not everything in the food aisles are gluten free and wheat free. I cannot live without wheat....ugh. I found only one aisle that are some wheat free and gluten free. Blah.
