In a 13 year old's mind losing access to FaceBook (or anything else for that matter) IS pretty dramatic so yes I can see why she'd commit suicide- I would guess that there might have been depression issues involved as well to exacerbate the drama "omg I'm losing facebook what am I going to dooooooooooooo?!" angle.
