I understand your perspective in helmets. Better safe than sorry. Like you, I won't drive without a seatbelt nor ride without motorcycle gear and a helmet.
Like you, in the journeys to the destination, is where the stories lie. Ain't nothing like a biker cowboy sharing stories of journeys.

Welcome to AD, I'm a Biker myself. My first license and Vehicle was a Yamaha Enduro in 1985 when I was 16 ( believe that's the correct year) and I upgraded throughout the years to bigger and better bikes. Bought My first brand new 2005 Harley XL1200C custom off the showroom floor an added some upgrades to it ( sold it a few years later ) I didn't actually have a car or license for a regular vehicle until I was 21 lol I loved Bikes ( rode BMX all the time and stayed in shape pedaling everywhere ) After I got hit by drunk (hit and run) that landed me in the hospital for 6-1/2 hours of reconstructive surgery I gave up motorcycles but still borrow and ride my buddys V-ROD from time to time.
Stay safe out there.
