I leave my computer on 24/7 because I have DSL. I do a lot of photo work on photoshop and if I close photoshop then I'd lose history of my work. There are some things that I like to "undo" my work and do something else...
Can't you just "save as" different versions of your image project, such as "Boat1a", "Boat1b", etc.? I hope you are frequently saving your images as you work on them so you don't lose them in a power outage or crash.

My computer gets turned off for the night or when I leave the house. I always un-plug before going to bed or leaving the house.

If I venture out of home for an hour or so then the laptop will be on. However, I turn it off everytime when I'm hitting the sack or going somewhere. I believe in conserving some energy.

Fly Free and I pretty much leave computer on 24/7 when we both go sleep and we let it stand by to save a bunch of $$ also when we are GONE for couples of day and we would turn it off and let it rest.

Exactly, I often do that when I'm working on art crafts...

I turn computer off if I don't want to use for hourS, no matter either it's DSL or not... but saving electricity bill...

Yes, I second that.

I usually leave the pc on while its monitor on its sleep mode. Due to monitor's heat building up. They are set to energy saver so in 2 hours of inactivity it's put to sleep (shutdown).

I also have a laptop, too but I do put it in hibernation whenever I'm away closeby but no overnight so I turn it off.

I have been and I always save several files for the same photos, but I rather keep photoshop open with my work in it so that way I won't lose history of my work.

See the letter "D" ? This is when you leave your photoshop open and you can go back couple of steps back and see what happens. Once you close that, the history is long gone. This is what I mean.
