Well, Teenagers are old enough to understand sex even 17 to 18 years teenagers. But, I am gonna have to say no. I don't think it be molesting if they are in a relationship, dating. But being a molester or force by rape it a different issue. I was dating guys half my age when I was 13 to my adult life. I was 13 and my ex was 15 then date at 16 to 18years old guys, so no it wouldn't be molesting if you are dating someone. I am sure teenagers and even 18 years old have the brain to know the risk of having sex.

What happened if the guy is 17 and the girl is 16 years old. They went out and have a good time. They had sex (no force) before midnight.

Tick Tock. Midnight is here.. It is the guy's birthday. He turned 18.

Words got around that they did it. They see it that he is 18 so the guy got charged for having sex with his girlfriend. What is wrong with this picture?

The guy was 17 when he had sex with his girlfriend.

Would they do this?? I hope not.

This would be bad for the boyfriend.

Vote No!!

but My ex friend * 30ish older did moleste and sexual with her adopt teen boy *15 years old :ugh3: so DSS took him out ! then i am not longer friend with her ... she is mental illness!! Geez!!

well, accord to California laws and law enforcement's: 18 years old is CONSIDERED as ADULT. Once he or she is become child molester on a child, will be serious offense and no loophole or let it go. Let me to get at this point on CHILD: a child is UNDER 17 years old, period. I know it is suck but If they are in RELATIONSHIP and parents HAVE a rights to determine. Its all about Parents' RIGHTS and POWER. It is very sticky situation occurs to 18 years old child molester.

IF they (18 yrs old) want to do something fresh, why cant they simply go to buy sex doll, sex toys, porn magazines, and stripping club. At least they're NOT involve crime. That's simple. Unfortunely, their minds are simply idioitics.

Feel free to make POV (point of the view) at this rebuttal nor discussion.

I've dated a girl who was 17 and I was 19 at that time so what's the big deal? I was actually 3 years older than her so its not that big of an age difference.

My vote's no and it only depends on how young the person and such.

Yeah. Not big deal plus your state law is 16.

Well I would think it would be unwise if a guy was 18 and having sex with a girl who was 17.. that would be a sex crime..and also I consider any girl below the age of 20 practically jailbait.. meaning there no way in hell any guy would wanna try having sex with a girl between 12 - 19 and etc.. and face the big problem over this... that's my opinion and I aint interested in doing this with any jailbait girl..no thanks.. the other girls over 20 are fine as long as they are smart and wise to what they want regarding sex with guys... simple enough...

It's not hard to answer Yes or No after read my response post toward Opal's post.

Accord USA law:
Statutory Rape is be consider if a 18 years old (legal age) have a sex with 17 years old (minor) or few years younger. 18 years old get register as sex offense and also label them as sex molester, too.

Again, I am not here to talk about the fact and law but your own POV on my question. This is a simple question: Do you consider 18 years old as sex molester for have sex with one year younger or few years younger ?
Which means a child's parents are the one made a decision to press charge. As long as parents are approved, it will not be considered a statutory rape. I have seen a lot of 15 or 16 years old dating 18 years old or older as long as parents are approved.

You forgot Ages of consent in North America - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Age of consent - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia <-- will explain what Ages of consent is..

Statutory rape - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia happens if a person is a minor UNDER the ages of consent in their state. Regardless of parent's permission or approval.

A little off topic post here... I watched Saturday Night Live an hour ago... it was broadcasted in 1975 where they had George Carlin as host of the show. they had "Impossible Truth News" sketch that talk about age of consent... here's screen capture of the show...
first picture show front page news 2nd picture show couple at restaurant 3rd picture show him showing his business card as Advertising agent and she told him that she can't read the card.

Yeah Boult but I wouldnt even bother trying to have sex with a girl who is below 18 and etc.. no thanks... that girl's parents could give the approval and then later scream that I allegedlly raped their daugther and etc?? Not worth the massive headache and etc.. do ya see my point now? I would rather be able to deal with mature and wiser ladies who know what they are doing properly than do that with the jailbait girls..... period....

I am sure the other states have same thing about 18 years old is adult. But it not molesting if he or she dating unless he or she have the parents permission to date their 17 years old. It's only one year apart difference. :aw:

Yes, but it's America, I am referring to since I notice some people consider 18 years old/legal age as child molester/sex offense for have sex with 17 years old or a few years younger in some threads.QUOTE]

Hmmm---I voted no because having sex that young does not make you a chld molester since some kids do have sex younger "than the legal age" BUT the law is there. Why and how it is there, too long a story and too broad, but the concept is if you get caught having sex with a minor, even if the minor says it's okay, you can get labeled a child molester. Most often you don't get " CHILD MOLESTER", it's either sexual offender, sexual predator. Child Molester would mean people who molest children, a more accurate label.

There is a sexual offender living three houses up the road who got into trouble this way. The girl blabbed, or her parents found out and he got in trouble because he was having sex with her when she was not old enough. Never mind they had a relationship. It went bad. So police makes a visit every now and then to check up on things. He's a good neighbor. He's hardly visible in the neighborhood.

to vague to just vote yes or no. there are many factors and circumstances.

examples of my point of view:
A) if the 18 year old teen is in a relationship, while the other teen is at the age of legal consent and the parents don't have a problem if the minor is sexually active. it's not anyones business but their own..., yet if legal charges are filed the 18 year old adult faces statutory rape charges. if they really love each other, they can wait...

B) if the 18 year old teen is in a relationship, while the other teen is below the age of legal consent and the parents object if the minor is sexually active. satutory rape

C) if the 18 year old teen, goes to a party takes advantage of a passed out drunk 17 year old or slips a roofie. molester

D) if the 18 year old teen deliberately seeks out a sexual relationship with a minor below the age of legal consent, that 18 person maybe an ephebophile.

I voted no.... a year difference isn't bad at all... it's hardly a difference.

There is no good reason why they shouldn't wait until they are at least 18 years old.

Why should we wait until we are 18 for sex? If it is taught by the parents to the kids to have safe sex, it is no problem for them to use it. It is hard for under-18's to get condoms, so they have unsafe sex and have babies. There should be access to condoms for all ages 13 and up.

Self-control and self-discipline seem to be dying characteristics for young people these days. They want that instant gratification, and aren't taught to wait for anything worthwhile. Gotta have that sex, car, iPod, booze, cell phone, attention, drugs, new clothes, money, RIGHT NOW! Waa, waa, give me my bottle now! They don't mature or learn how to set priorities in their lives. Just gotta have that instant pleasure, even if it destroys their future lives or the lives of others.

This is not true for all or even most of the younger generation. Many do know how to have self discipline and self-control. It's just that the culture is changed from before though. Sex isn't like it used to be, it's more casual now than before, it isn't thought of as bad or something amazing, it's just something fun to do. For the iPod, money, and clothes, many have to earn them or work for them. Cell phones should not be listed under those, because they are a nesseccity in today's world. Many people do not have landlines anymore because they use cell phones, and it is a way to keep track of your kids. As for alcohol, that SHOULD be at a younger age under 21, because it doesn't help having it high like that. It should be the parents responsibility to teach their kid responsible drinking, not wait until they move out and are in college or working to start drinking. And drugs... in today's society, it is more of a toy than a drug. These last two are the only ones that can destroy anything. So how does this decline the maturity level and not set priorities?

And this is coming from a 19 year old who had to work for all he has and has had all of the above at a young age.

And, as for the question, no. 18 is not because many states have a lower age of consent, so 18 would not be.
