In a thread, MissP mentioned that gay/lesbian lifestyle isnt a culture. I have always thought it is a culture.

Im not gay so I am not sure if the gays/lesbians view it as a culture or what?

Can you enlighten me?

Please no gay/lesbian bashing here. Please make postings with respect. Thanks

I do think the GLBT community has a culture. if they doesn't, then Deaf communities doesn't have a culture. No religion or a staple of food is making a culture "culture"... it is all about a community that share the same language and understanding and passion about themselves. The GLBT shares the same passion and pride thus they do have a culture. I always feel that the GLBT and Deaf communities have many in parallel e.g. not having parents that share the same culture (not many people have gay parents-- as well not many people have deaf parents. You catch on the pattern here?).

Yes, gay/lesbains do have their own culture, there are thousands of cultures around the world so cultures do exist and it makes things interesting and different from one other. The world would be boring if it was same culture everywhere.

Yes, gay and lesbian people have their own values, mores, and even their own history. They also have their own gay slangs and events like pride days. People in the gay culture share a common trait which is their same sex preferences, and they share the same frustration, experiences and stories. I think it is a culture indeed.

well it isn't really a culture.

we black people don't really have a culture.
cause we blend in with white folks.

and my idea of a culture is....

different language, different religion, and different country.

Yeah deaf culture is somewhat qualify, cause of different way of communication.
But what about blind culture, do they have culture?

and Quakers and Mormon, yeah they kinda have their own cultures,
they stick together, stay away from today tradition.

but gay cultures, why?
might as well have pedophile culture too.

Miss*Pinocchio but gay cultures said:
That was not nice of you to say that. Pedophiles do not have a culture. There is no need to lump them with the gays.

well gay cultures won't survive by itself, cause they won't reproduce though.

and just because I am open minded about occult and other religion,
doesn't mean I have to accept everybody, including cultures.

And plus I think Christianity is my choice of religion, because
it isn't confusing, I can just be myself, and just cleanse my sin
and all.

But Astrology, it makes me worry more about life, making me
feel miserable, I can see why people won't study Astrology,
cause... if you predict your child, and see thing that you don't
want to see,, or predict yourself in the future... and see things
you don't want to see....

That is why I am home, scare, cause I see many bad things will happen
in my birth chart.... I can't even get out of the house, making me
more trap at home.

But with Christianity, I can just pray to God, and just go out
and let things happen, let the chips fall as they may, and if
anything happen, I know that God will be there to comfort me.
That is why I like Christianity better....

But India's religion, it is kinda strange, how can a person
be good all of their life, without have to face bad karma, and
be scare that your life will be worst afterlife reincarnation.

So I am comparing the Christianity with all other religion and occult.
And if you want me compare my culture to gay culture, then
you know what the answer is, I like my culture better.

Exactly. There's a lot of crackpots on AOL. I certainly wouldn't take the word of some stranger.

Miss P, you would do well to read about topics, and have alittle understanding before you post. Your statements are baseless and probably would offend many. I'm sure there are many here who feel there is a gay culture and are quite willing to disagree with you.

Hon, lets not go off on topic here. Please make your own thread if you want to talk about that.

I am only interested in culture issue in itself.

Thank you. :ty:

oh okay, I thought you made this thread to brainwash me.
Just because majority of people say that it is a culture,
doesn't mean I have to go along with it.

I have my own opinion, so you should respect mine. ;)

Huh? Im not here to brainwash you. Im here to ask as I am interested in knowing. It has nothing to do with you.

Youre entitled to your own opinions as much as I am.

Oh, geez. She didn't make this thread to brainwash anybody. She made this thread to gather opinions based on a curiousity she had. That is all.

Miss P, at the risk of possibly getting Meg's thread closed, I have to tell you. We don't have to respect what you say. I have a choice to read your posts or not, but I don't have to respect what you say. The truth is, I don't respect you, either. You wanna know why? You make baseless statements, and then, you contradict yourself. How can we respect someone who can't even decide on what she believes?

well okay, I guess I won't respect everyone else opinion, then.
