The confederate symbol is part of flag that separation of state and federal, that's government matter but Islam is part of religion like Christianity. It is obviously apple to orange.

If Islam is replaced with ISIS or Al Qaeda, it will make sense but confederate symbol is part of heritage that not used by government official anymore.

Islam is very big religion with over billion of people - it means not all of them are bad, but only ISIS, Al Qaeda and religious terrorists are bad sector of Islam.

The confederate flag isn't used by government official anymore - it is part of heritage now, but Islam is exist today - only less than 1% of Muslims are associated with terrorist organization, even we have Christian terrorists too, but they are less than 1%.
 
We has right to practice religion or no religion in usa. Confederate flag isn't religion so u saying it's heritage....Thank God CSA had Dissappeared but hate-crime or racism is almost still inevitable from your heritage. U got dylan roof spit, burn USA flag. He represented Confederate and killed black people.

Nearly all people in CSA were southern baptist/methodist.

The KKK didn't form until after Civil War and racism existed in the Union for many centuries.

Al Qaeda didn't form until after withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan in 1988.

In fact, northern states are more segregated than southern states.

Confederate flag doesn't promote the hate and violence, but it was people who promoted, not symbol. Same logical for Islam - they don't promote the hate and violence, but people did.

The kkk sometimes fly the confederate flag but they ALWAYS fly the american flag. If you ask them they are an american organization not a southern one.

Therefore that's how the council made a decision. The council listened to people and made a decision. In other words, those people who spoke up against the monuments won.

A large crowd broke into cheers Thursday after the New Orleans City Council voted to remove four monuments to the Confederacy from prominent places in the city.
