Wait until the N6 is released, which should be in the near future (possibly by fall for USA). Same packaging as the N6, but newer.
 
Any of your friends divers or are you able to hire a diver? It may still work even tho its been under water for a while.

Shit happens, that's why we take out insurance on expensive stuff. Not much you can do but go after the person who pushed your wife into the lake....can ask them to help pay for the 'damages'.

p.s. You can rent equipment to scan the bottom of the lake for electronics, I am sure it costs a lot less than $8K.

Exactly what I was thinking. It can be fixed for way less than 8K or the extended warranty covers it if recovered from the lake. If worse comes to worse, hire a professional scuba diver to search the lake bottom where she fell in.
