Spice,
I know where you are coming from in that he shouldn't be spending money. My point was if it is his money from his own pocket, then why not? If you hold him to the standard that his paycheck is not his (not just his paycheck but if he has investments or other sources of income) why not hold everyone to that standard?
Telling the president (or any government official/employee) that they can't spend their paycheck because their are problems in the world is the same as telling fast food workers they can't spend their paychecks because there are hungry homeless people up the street.
There are also plenty of other people that take in more money than George Bush who blow their money on things and I don't see the public outcry. Bill Clinton makes a fortune on appearances....why doesn't he do it for free on principle or donate all that money to a cause? The same could be said for sports players, movie stars, corporate CEO's ,etc.
I couldn't imagine spending 50 million of taxpayer money, but I don't see the problem if its coming from his own pocket or from private donations.
If you were having party and I donated $100 to you to help pay for drinks, would you see it as a problem?
