It's totally ugly...

Our Schools looking more and more like detention centers. When i went to school i never saw security guards roaming our hallways like now.I never seen security guards outside our doors or we have to enter metal detectors before entering a school building. You have More freedom in College than in a high school. I never seen security guards at a university building or in a ballpark.College Staduims dont use pat downs or metal detectors unlike in NFL stadiums. You dont even see bars in college dorms or education buildings.

My sisters schools are basically like that to keep safely... Too many bomb threats and fights. They are just trying to protect all the students!!

You realize, I hope, that the bars are more to keep people from breaking IN the school whe its closed, than to keep the students in during school.

Yeah but most kids feel like their in jail anyways when they go to school..I Did. But always escaped hehe'

I never attended any school with bars on the windows. Bars are an eyesores because criminals made it happen.

I went to school thats dont have any bars on windows, but my home has one cuz I lived in dangerous place, DC!

Most schools in England now have high metal bars with sharp spikes at the top surrounding the premises, a big change from the small wooden fences we had when we were younger. As someone said, schools do look more like a prison now

You need go to Typing Center and learn how to use typing on keyboard but it would have all bars on windows, also you will stuck and probably call Fred Phelps to help you.

Schools increases the security after Columbine, and more are starting to get extra security after Red Lake shooting few years ago. Red Lake school shooting is 2nd worst school shooting in the nation.

As for first HS I went to, I heard they increased security, dismissed security liasions that I knew, hired "rent a cop", and only seniors would go out to McDonald's for lunch (During my time 10th to 12th grade can go out eat). Seniors only have ID similar to my work ID to increase the entry to school buliding during lunch hours. If a senior let underclass or 11th grade accompany them, they will lose that privilege.

2nd HS I went to (actually graduated from) only have staff seated in the front with desk, where all visitiors can sign in and out, also have police officer from local PD help with lunch hour.

As for MN school for the deaf, they have their own security guards (thats what I heard).

When I drove school bus in Phoenix, AZ in 1993, I noticed all of the Phx Public Schools had bars on the windows and learned that if a teacher has a problem in the classroom, just call Security. :jaw: Also, a football team I drove a couple of times to games had won the second one. Security surrounded the players to get them on my bus, the kids were told to " . . . Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! And keep the windows closed until we get off school grounds (it was over 90 degrees and about 9 at night). After that, you can whoop and holler all you want!" I was told by a colleague that if I had driven a team down to Casa Grande and my team won, my bus would receive a police escort out of town, because the students and other people supporting the other school would come after the bus.

This is more sick than anything!!

Well, all new school buildings in LA don't have bars on windows because there's alarm built-in.
