All about...

Well, I have read many newspapers about people who complaints over Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart let the people to use their 5th wheelers or trailers pullin' by trucks or whateva to park at Wal-Mart's parkin' lot to stay overnight for free. That makes R.V. Park owners lose their business, because no body wants to pay the fees at R.V. Park areas. That's why I don't like Wal-Mart. Some R.V. Park owners sued Wal-Mart for doin' that to hurt their businesses.

I know it's great to have Wal-Mart sellin' their stuff at lower prices, but I still don't like Wal-Mart's scheme for hurtin' the businesses like the R.V. Park owners. Tsk !
well, basically R.V. aren't supposed to park overnight on wal-mart parking lot. But. They can't do anything about it since its open 24 hours. and by telling them to get out of the property will hurt wal-mart's business. R.V. even parks at other 24 hour stores too as well. Also there's other places is the Rest area.. u can stay there for free. so it doesn't really hurt the R.v. camping business.

Hi gatoryboy.....

I have been working for wal-mart for 4 years... (will be 4th year in June 5th)

Yeah its "deaf-friendly" when i first started working at wal-mart in 2000... every employee's are required to take "CBL training courses" on the computer.. they speak by voices.. that time i didn't have any interpreter for those CBL. but right now i think 2001 or 2002 CBL's now have an ASL interpreter on the computer screen or open caption. wondering if ur's got the same thing?

yeah same thing at the meetings (daily meetings) normally talk about sales up or down, how to improve etc.. i get no interpreter, however the meetings are only 10 min. But, I always get a notetaker to write me what they're talking about etc. almost nothing's important.
mostly talk about sales up, how many accident free days, events such as fund raising, relay for life, how to make the company more better and in shape.

as for the Deaf percentage.. reason its impossible to know the percentage of deaf population who works at wal-mart is because its confinical (sp?).

Yeah, I have the ASL thing on the CBLs but I don't care about the CBLs because I completed it a long time ago. I would like an interperter at every meetings. Every time they don't provide interperter, it's discrimination.

That's correct, RVs or 5-Wheelers are not allowed to park overnight. There's signs in my parking lot that says that it's illegal to do so. If people ignore that law, their RVs or 5-Wheelers will be towed.

We had Super/Big K-mart Stores before and now, it is no longer in business in several places, because of Wal-Mart's lower prices than K-mart's .... Wal-Mart hurts K-mart Stores. And, now about parkin' lot...Wal-Mart hurts the R.V. Park owners. Geez.. what's next, hmm ?

Are they goin' to hurt Costco next ? I hope that there's NO Wal-Mart store standin' next to Costco or whateva to hurt its business. More people (owners of any stores) will sue, if that happens.

CostCo is not the same kind of store as Wal-Mart. CostCo's competitor is Sam's Club. I read in the newspaper that Sam's Club is losing money because of CostCo so I am sure CostCo is in good hands, *mumbling* for now.

u should be happy that walmart have low price SAVE UR MONEY!!!!!!!!!! i love walmart cuz of save my $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$...

Walmart is good for just a FEW items -- i dont usually patronize walmart -- theyre a rip off IMO -- i tend to shop at other retailers that offers better deals -- im the kind that usually looks for best deals first before going to the store and getting the items we need

think abt this -- like Gatorboy had mentioned as an example -- if a PS2 was sold at Target for $99 and at walmart its sold at $129 buckaroos -- i can always go directly to Target and buy the PS2 there instead of just clipping out the Target coupon and bringing it to walmart (and driving the extra miles) for the same price -- or a dollar extra off -- thats not much of a "great deal" to me and Target is just up the road -- its much easier just go to to Target and get it there and its still $99 with coupon (and saves on gas too -- keep in mind the gas prices are skyrocketing right now) when theres no reason to be driving the extra milage to the nearest Walmart and IMO Walmart sucks anyway

Ok since you mentioned wally world......

Let's get on with the STARTING base pay of the average Wally world associate in the stores not the HQ or DC..... How many times a year the associate gets a raise until it is topped out?

Then there's HEALTH INSURANCE how much does a Wally World associate pay his share off the check?

I know Wal-Mart sells stuff at lower prices to save your $$, but I don't like Wal-Mart's reputation. I like Costco better, because it lasts long time if, I buy some bulk stuff. :)

Y'all know how many members of this board always have an All about me thread? Well this time, I have decided to set one up but it's not all about me, it's all about Wal-Mart! I believe that I know a lot about Wal-Mart since I work there for more than 2 years. Ask any question about Wal-Mart and the history of the store. I am sure someone was wondering about something at their local Wal-Mart. Ask away!

hey GATORBOY00, long time no hear from ya....

Im not sure if you aware about M E I J E R... it is kind of competition with wal-mart, kmart and some super marts.

Meijer was founded in 1934 so Walmart opened later in 60's.

Because Wal-Mart need at least 5 to 10 acres on a flat land to build one. NYC doesn't have room for that. However, there's one in New Jersey that is about 10 to 15 minutes from NYC.

So it doesn't have anyhting to do with unions?

That reminds me when I went over to Indiana for the very first time in 2K2, I saw a Super-Meijers, I was like WTF?!

Besides I did like the Meijers when I entered one during my Indiana trips Wish Knoxville had one of the Meijers since I'm getting sick of seeing Wally Worlds and Super Targets.....

at my work.. they give you 3% to 5 % raise annually depend how well u do ur job.. also if you were doing an excellent job and the boss is appericated with your work you will get "Merit raise" up to 50 cents. that "merit raise" does not include in ur annual review. so if you made 25,000 a year working at walmart. and made 4% raise it is $1,000 extra.

My health and dental insurance is taken out of my check every 2 weeks is $26.75 per check. thats equal around $58 per month for dental and medical insurance.

When you first start working at Wal-Mart, you will get a raise in 3 months. The next raise will be on your one year anniversary. After that, it's annually. The wage will never top out. You will keep on getting raises every year, regardless of how long you work or how much you earn. Raises tends to be 5 percent of your hourly wage. So, the longer you work at Wal-Mart, the bigger your raise will be!

The health insurance depends on the individual. You can pick an insurance plan and it will tell you how much will be deducted from every paycheck. I choose not to have health insurance or dental insurance because I need all the money, LOL. My friend is on a full coverage dental insurance plan which deducts $6.50 per paycheck.

The positive thing about Wal-Mart is that you are automatically a stock-holder (Generally, it's bonus money). I get a bonus of $900 every March.

Of course everyone would do that! However, what if Wal-Mart is right next to you and Target is about 20 minutes away? You know you'll clip out the coupon and bring it to Wal-Mart!
