I'm not sure. I think it's because ASL Interpreting is usually a female-oriented profession. Gay men are usually less inclined to pay attention or care about gender roles for fear of looking "less macho".

I realized I was attracted to guys when I was 14 and came out to friends when I was 15. My mom outed me when I was 15 because she looked through my notes I had written with a friend and they mentioned me being gay. She was cool with it, she just felt like I should not have hid it from her.

I grew up in Ypsilanti (I see you're in Ann Arbor) but I moved to Milwaukee after graduating from NMU in the upper peninsula.
