    So what's the deal?

Isn't that a bit hypocritical of you to bitch about a deafie's lack of manners, when here you are, being just as rude? Whatever happened to being the bigger person? If a deafie was being rude, you should have finished your job in a professional manner and vented in some other way. If you go to a...

what cause you to become Ddeaf/Hhoh?

I was born HoH, and two of my three daughters are also HoH.

is hoh still part of deaf or what?.

I am HoH. I had very very little contact with deaf people. The only time I'dmeet deaf people were the few times I went to a deaf/HoH camp. It was hard to communicate because of the language barrier (sign/speech) but we managed anyway. I miss those days.

why some deaf people are staying home whom not going to work?

I agree. Maybe some are lazy, some have real difficulties finding jobs, some feel unaccepted by the hearing society, some have other medical issues. You never know.

    Are BelTone Hearing Aids Junk?

You must have been lucky enough to have found someone who went against the seemingly normal company procedure. Miracle Ear doesn't exactly have a good reputation, and in my case, this particular office told me blatant lies in an attempt to make a sale. I still stand by my opinion that anyone...

    Are BelTone Hearing Aids Junk?

STAY AWAY FROM THOSE PLACES!! Seriously. A couple of years ago, I went to Miracle Ear just to get a hearing test done, out of curiosity. Keep in mind that I was born with a mod/severe sensorineural loss in both ears, and have had tons of visits to the audiologist, so I'm very familiar with my...

Are you shy to wear a HA/CI or don't care?

I was first fit with HAs at the age of two, but I was never shy about wearing them until late junior high and high school. That's when I became very self conscious as many teenagers do. It wasn't until after I married my husband that I stopped worrying what other people may think of my HAs. Such...

    Envoy Esteem middle ear implant

Whoops, I missed your post! I had my surgery last week, and it went really well. They did put a patch on my neck before knocking me out. I only had one side effect from the patch, and that was an extremely dry mouth. Well, I guess it wasn't so much a dry mouth as a dry taste. Nothing tasted very...

    Envoy Esteem middle ear implant

I received some great news today, they will be implanting my worse ear after all. I am very relieved, and I'm starting to get a little nervous. To those of you with cochlear implants, how was your recovery after surgery? It will be my first time under anesthesia. :S Still looking for other Envoy...

    Envoy Esteem middle ear implant

Yep, Generation 2 is underway and I think they are getting ready to close it by mid June, I'm not sure. I think I remember reading a bit about your daughter having problems, what kind of issues is sh having? My sister has had the implant and absolutely loves hers. She's anxious for the second...

    Envoy Esteem middle ear implant

Yes, you are right - the middle ear implant and CI are a bit different. Currently, people who qualify to be a CI patient have a hearing loss too severe for the MEI. I'd like to point one thing out though...assuming the fully implantable CI is successful, both it and the MEI will be be able...

    Envoy Esteem middle ear implant

Hi! You can visit my journal ( Building My Self Esteem ) to find out a lot more about the surgery and the requirements, but I can tell you the basic requirements: you must have a sensorineural hearing loss, a healthy middle ear, and have a speech discrimination score of 60% or better. They have...

    Envoy Esteem middle ear implant

Hi everyone! I'm in the Envoy Esteem clinical study, and I will be implanted on June 18th. Any members still around who have had the implant? I've been following this study for quite some time, and I am very excited. I was a part of the study back in 2005, but I failed my baseline testing two...
