Oh WOW! For unleaded?

Yes, some area are over $4 for regular unleaded, for instance, San Francisco is more expensive perhaps $4.15 or $4.25. Here outside SF, $3.89.

People here are taking carpools and transit, and the toll bridge taking a hit since less drivers are across the bridge.

There's a big increase demand of hybrid such as Toyota Pirus. Also for cleaner air, and cheaper fuel CNG Honda Civic CNG That'd help save money a bit and also helps environment in a way.

Also there's a diesel hybrid that gets 70mpg: Revealed: Volkswagen's 69.9-MPG Diesel Hybrid | Autopia from Wired.com

here in Arkansas its now 3.47 per gallon for regular unleaded. i used the walmart card so 3 cents off it come down to 3.44 .. it helped somewhat.. better than nothing.. grrr..

I'm in FL and the prices are 3.51... get this.,,I am moving June 25th to Calif. and for me to rent a truck and fill up the tank..is not worth it...so I have to sell all my stuff and start fresh when I get down there. Luckily, I can stay with my brother until I find a good job, and save money to re -buy stuff.

I have to agree with you. I dont think people will be moving their stuff cross country as much. I moved from AZ to MD in '99 with the big moving truck and everything. Gas alone costed $600 even with the cheap prices back then. Cant even imagine what it would have costed with today's prices. :eek3:

I noticed that the prices out on the west are higher than here on the East coast. Is that correct?

Well the reason why its higher in my town is because it's the only gas station in town.

The other gas station is 11 miles south of here and it's .05 cents cheaper.

South Carolina Lowcountry regular unleaded is $3.46.

The gas has slightly dropped down here. It was $3.59 and now it's at $3.55. Yeah, I know it's not a big change but it will change and increase again.

Yeah, I'm wondering about Memorial Day weekend coming up. We'll probably see another spike then.

Oh definitely. We will see another spike, you can count on that. Memorial Day is usually the beginning of the summer period (although Summer does not officially start until June 21st). In the past, People are always on the road traveling during Memorial Day weekend. Since the gas prices that has been increasing like crazy, It is more likely they will opt not to travel far away.

US cost on gas per galloon is 111th expensive in the world. Or 45th cheapest in the world.

Why gas in the U.S. is so cheap - May. 1, 2008

Extracted from ONLINE news:: Everybody pays more, but the U.S. pays more in absolute terms," said Lee Shipper, a visiting scholar at the University of California Berkeley's Transportation Center. If you're already paying $4 in taxes, said Schipper, then an extra $2 a gallon isn't that big of a deal.

It's big deal to everyone!! I bet he's talking about rich Americans, Not MIDDLE CLASS!! I would choke on him that it hurts BIG time!! More than 1/2 of Americans are MIDDLE CLASS!! Guy in news should be careful what he say. Gas isn't cheap IMHO!!:rl:

Some news said today gas price is the same as back in 1970's and 1980's in an adjusted cost of living. I do not agree on that. I remmy paying $1.20 a gallon back in 1983 to fill moped. It doesn't eat away my $10 much. While today, $3.49 does! IF filling up 3 gallons, It's $10.49. $10 bill plus two qarters goes to gasoline and I have nothing to spend!! I coulda have Big Mac Meal for $6!!

Now, the gas price are beat early 80's record but it's known as inflation.

In 1983, minimum wage would be less than $2 or $3 per hour.

Yup. I know, It used to be around $3.15 an hour in 1983. BUT I do not always follow inflation figure. It's the matter of how much savings you have and how much you spend for. Today, some jobs still stuck around $5.25 an hour and still hurts them so much. I can understand that Inflation helps economic but it's inflation cycle is getting shorter every year. I still have to pay $3.49 a gallon to top the tank on my guzzler. Many of my deafie friends were so freaked out :jaw::eek2: when I told them how much I spend for gas a week  . I works for Postal Service.

Oh well what can I do:dunno2:

Crude oil struck about $120 a barrell yikes!

I agree, I would not be surprised to see $5, $6 or more to come *shudders* I'm thinking of getting a hybrid car or a car that runs CNG. The gas price is so crazy now :ugh:

it's $3.89 as of today, so not much change but in the coming few weeks we will see a significant increase as Memorial Day approaches.
