Marlee Matlin

Yeah, I was going to watch "The L Word", I noticed that they don't have close captioned that I can not understand what the hearing actors say on the T.V series. I knew that Marlee Matlin and Deanne Bray were on the series. So I was disappointed. I hope they will put the close captioned program later when they show the series again. Oh, well, what come around will come around soon. :giggle:
Sorry your L Word does not come with CC! Maybe you can rent the DVD and use subtitles. When I watch L Word it does have CC, we use Verizon Fios for cable.

And that is my answer to the original question as well. I like Marlee Matlin because she's hot. I always liked her as a kid because she was the only visible deaf actress I knew (except for Linda Bove) but now that she is on L Word, well, she is just gorgeous to me. When I found out Deanne Bray is on there too...loved her in F.B. Eye...well L Word is now my top favorite show!

Now I get to see Marlee play a person who is like me...yummy. ;)

Ahh gotcha... that's what I thought, but I wasnt sure so I had to ask. ;) Yayness- lesbians rock! For me, I never really thought Marlee was attractive until she showed her sexy side on The L Word, however, I'd rather pick Jennifer Beal (Bette) over her. :giggle: On the other hand, I'm happy for Bette to meet Jodi because I like Jodi better than Tina.

see this... Marlee Matlin

she's more exposed to public than any other deaf actors or actresses...

She keep making sure she can keep acting and be on tv more often so she's public figure.

Other deaf actors and actress that many of you mentioned are not more public than MM.
*shrug*

hello AquaBlue,

I do understand, what you mean????.... but I think, you could to be understand, why we just are popular of Marlee Matlin?
Because, She did hard working for herself actress.
I see, that is not different, so we are deaf. Marlee Matlin is deaf, too. we know, we are the same culture deaf. It is not cool?? that is why, we were excited to watch one movie from Marlee Matlin.
Are you not excite to watch it??

In Europe, we do love one deaf woman "Emmanuelle Laborit. she does very good Job of actress. we from Europe love Emmanuelle Laborit, because she has very good actress on the stage theatre, made a movie "jenseit der Stille" and made herself write a book "the cry of the cull"
look over website ...... maybe Do ya all know her?

In Paris, Emmanuelle Laborit builds bridges between the deaf and hearing - International Herald Tribune

Yes, that's right. Emmanuelle is a French actress. She act very good as Marlee as well. I own "jenseit der Stille" as well. Jenseit der Stille is good movie but I personally disagree with the producer of Jenseit der Stille to negative deafness in that Jenseit der Stille movie. They hire American deaf man to play as father and Emmanuelle as mother to 2 hearing daughters.

I have seen most of Emmanuelle and Marlee's movies and would say that they are both good actresses.

i remember that I met MM once and she came across as rude.

As for Phliss Frickl, You mean Phyllis Frelich? Don't bad about getting her name wrong. I had to look it up on google to spell it correctly. I've never met her but I've heard wonderful things about her.

I met her in person tonight.

She appeared on stage at my university.

And no, she doesn't appear to be snobby or w/e. She's nice.

She also plays a Lesbian in Showtime Series called The L Word. I'm sure some of you heard of it. She also speak and signs too in that show

Wow, it's a cool video, very funny! I submitted it to Project Readon so everybody can enjoy it. Very interesting that Marlee has hearing aids that aren't even on the market yet!

Marlee Matlin's dancing With the stars ,Monday, starting 3/17 ON CHANNEL ABC AT 8:00-9:30 :thumb:

Catching up with Marlee to find out why she choose to do "Dancing With the Stars" and how she will be dealing with the challenge of dancing while not being able to hear the music.

See video at: Access Extended: Marlee Matlin's 'Dancing' Rehearsal | Videos | Access Hollywood | Celeb Video Clips, TV Show and Celebrity Video Clips Available Online

From what I read from her personal profile in the MSN News, she said that she want to do the Ballroom dancing because her husband and her children love to watch the Dancing with the Stars. She is going to try to do the challenge of dancing, even if she have never dance before. Her family are so excited that she is going to be on it. They could hardly wait to watch her dance with a partner. Yes, I am pretty sure she is wearing a hearing aid, but if not, don't worry her partner will guide her through all the dance they have learn. It takes committment and a lot of work to try almost perfect dance. I don't know if she is going to win or not, so we will all find out on March 17. Also she must be Irish. HeHeHeHe :giggle: P.S. I could hardly wait to see her dance and I am sooooo excited about it all. :fingersx:

I do not know if this has been posted yet but did you know that Marlee Matlin will have another movie out this year (2008)? It's called Silent Knights.

Nothing yet from Project readOn about captioning that vid...maybe I will do it myself. I did it once before with the "scuba diving cat" video...I could do it again!

ETA: I can't figure out how to save the video...if somebody else can I will caption it.

Not culturally Deaf enough. It means a deaf person who has adopted to hearing culture behavior instead of Deaf culture behavior. I was accused of not being Deaf enough numerous times due to my oral-only upbringing despite having a severe to profound hearing loss in both ears since birth.

Not deaf enough? I think that really silly because we deaf still live in the hearing world as well. So, to me I accpeted both hearing and deaf world. It really not much of a culture difference behavior. I grew up in hearing world so being deaf in a hearing world would not make much difference to me. :)
