Christianity: Long lifespans

I thought it was related, because their calendar years were different, therefore, their age in years was different from the way we calculate age now. You asked why they lived longer, and I was simply explaining that it probably wasn't that they lived so much longer, but that age was calculated differently.

Nope. It's not what I am talking about, besides, it's not because of calendars.. I'm talking about how did people live differently, what is effective thing on them, and etc etc.

IN THE NOTE- I noticed some ADers brought off-topic posts here. It's not about calenders, times, and etc. It's about culture of longvity and some questions about people who used to live for many years and years.

I want to see Bible, Christianity, and any comment is related to here, please. Thank you once again, for understanding. :):)

Sorry,,,, I believe in Evolution....none of us have long lifespan nowadays...

Yes, that's right.

Julian calendar (365 days) was first introduced by Julius Caesar in 46 BC. I remember those history at school.

I found those link.

Jillios, yes you are correct about the calendar.

Biblical rationality

I remembered to question JW people about longspans in the bible than our present times.

JW people explained it was started after Noah Ark time. Before Noak Ark time, the people stay alive to 900 or more years old and after Noak Ark, less than 500 years old. They didn't explain exact reason and why... I need an exact... I know what I was taught at school about the different between Hedbrew and Roman calendars.

I feel it's not right because I know that some people who stay alive up to 100 or more in 90s time... It's something do with difference calendar during AD and BC time...

See this example...

Take a look here..

The answer I believe in part lies in the state of the earth when God first Created it, compared to the sin wrecked world we live in today.

When you look at the age of the Patriarchs (Adam's descendants) in Genesis you will see two things. One, is that from Adam to Noah the average life span was somewhere in the neighborhood of 900 years. These people lived in a very different world than we do today (this was at a time before the flood described in Genesis). God Created the earth perfect. But when Adam sinned this world began to decay.

Then when the flood came, things really got wrecked. Some Creationists believe that the pre-flood vapor canopy (the firmament in GEN 1:6 ) would filter out radiation, and hold in incoming solar heat making the earth a warmer place to live. This "expanse" separated the "waters above" from the "waters below" in the Creation week. I believe that the firmament may have collapsed at the time of the flood.

As a result harmful radiation can enter the earth more easily than before, bringing with it all kinds of damaging effects.

The life span of man has been declining since the flood. The average age of man quickly dropped to less than 100 in the 200 years after the flood.

Some critics claim that the 900 years of life mentioned in the Bible were not literal years. They claim that back then people counted each month as a year. They claim that you have to take the age given in the Bible and divide by 12 months.

This is wrong for many reasons. The Bible tells us how old the patriarchs were when their children were born. Cainan was 70 when his son was born. If you divided the age by 12, then that means he would have had a child at 5 years old. - This is impossible.

Also Moses compiled Genesis. He could clearly differentiate between a month and a year. He did so many times in his writing.

Also, when Jesus came to earth he taught us many things. If the Patriarchs did not live as long as the Bible claims then Jesus would have told us.

The ages given in Genesis are literal years.

Rather than evolving, we are degenerating. And will continue to do so until Christ returns.

Were people in the Old Testament really that Old? Neanderthal man buried alive jack Cuozzo old age patriarchs

That's why the calender is NOT count. I'd rather to discuss about a lifestlye of long lifespan, why we cant be stay so longer like the past?, etc etc.

Anyway, I just found this website page and it's pretty interesting. I think I get it now, I hope. :)

Please, you should read my rules because you post is not belong to here. But, thank you for sharing your opinion. :)

Of course you dont. ^_^ I believe you, really, I think you dont really attention to my first post #1. Because I created my thread for Christianity only, whoever believe in Bible subject instead of the Evolution subject.

You still can discuss about what people were doing so different if they were living very much longer, a culture of longvity, etc etc. That's fine. :)

I can understand that reasoning however, there is only one day and one night due to rotation of Earth and the Bible describes how one day is counted and it is same as how we count a day. I think our calenders are close enough to say the age is counted same as today.

Days, yes. Years, no.

Well, if you are going to look at it from the point of lifestyle, it makes sense that people did not live that long, not jsut because of differences in the calendar year, but because they did not have the means to preserve life and cure illness.

Please read this first.
Simple rules for my thread.
1. Keep it clean, please. (no insulting, rudeness, etc)
2. Keep this thread under control, please.
3. Of course, be resfect and use common sense.
4. NO KIND OF ANY DEBATE ALLOWED.

In importance note - I don't want to see anyone else said "your bible is wrong; it's totally myth/a fairy tale/etc; but religion people said the same thing!; etc etc etc" THIS THREAD IS FOR CHRISTIANITY DISCUSSION ONLY, PERIOD. Thank you for understanding. :)

I like to know about long lifespans in the Bible. I'd rather to share the old/new KJV only to discuss about it.

I wonder, why did they live so much longer than today? How did something effect on people to have many years of the age? I already know about Flood story, yeah, but my point is long lifespan before the Flood. I really want to know more about this part.

Come on and discussion, chat is accpetable as long as this thread is must stay on topic. :D :D :D

Look at number 1... i did followed this rule... you jumped on me....I was not rude at all...

That what I refer to non-evolution topics, different beliefs, different opinions, etc etc.

Don't worry, dont take it serious. :)

If you dont beleive in longvity then your posts should not belong to here, what's your belief? You are sound you are not Christian or something.

Again, I want to see anybody else discuss about Christianity (Creationism too) and long lifepan only. Please to see my currently pervious post to SxyPorkie's post.

Oh Man...I am not going to waste my time arguing with you...My apology...

I don't get it. Are you saying that you only welcome posts that say that Christianity = longer lifespan? What about the long lives reported in the old testament? Those were prior to Christ's birth, and therefore had nothing to do with Christianity. Christianity wasn't even a concept until Christ.

Ah.. I guess some ADers dont get what I am talking about.

I'm jsut so curious because I want to know what they look like be, how their lives were different, and why not people cant have just long age, and etc etc? I thought why not we can chat about it, I also think Bible may mention about it.. Well, I feel my gut that I probably have to ask a mod to close my thread if no one understand my point is... -sighs-

Between Adam and Noah these people lived longer. Adam was lived on the earth until he died at 930. Noah died at 950. You see these people lived long and died at nearly 1000 age. The reason for living long is the perfect climate until the flood. After the flood, the age begun to decline because the climate was no longer perfect.

Well, I understand your point. I also know that in those days there were giants too.

The reason i belive that people lived longer was because of the enviroument that existed in those days. I belive that ther was water covering the whole earth right between air and space. That created a perfect "greenhouse" it was always 70 degrees or around there. There was no seasons. It was like spring year around so plants grew like crazy and were very healthy. Not much deseaises then like today. That's why people lived longer. They didn't even eat meat till after the flood.
