Doing your share for the environment?

Yeah. Liquor store purchases are more important than the safety of kids.

I was sweat badly and had bad headache in hot and humid weather, so there were no AC in camp so I stay in car with AC running until I feel better before play cornhole games. I thought you don't believe in pollution so running the car isn't matter to you?

Not necessarily, some parents bought liquors for special occasions and it don't means liquor is important than kids. My parent did to me when I was little kid, but they only lasted about 2-3 minutes.

I tell parents to use best judgment when they leave child unattended in a car, but I don't recommended that, also babysitting and daycare are getting expensive now. I feel bad for parents who trying to find a job and they have to find way to take care of child at minimal cost while they can go to job interview.

I never said that pollution doesn't matter to me. I don't even like to leave the car running to warm up on a cold morning. It seems wasteful to me.

So it was a "special" occasion? That makes a difference?

Apparently parental "best judgment" is in short supply. Yes, getting a job is hard but is it worth risking your child's life? What if the person being interviewed gets hired? Leave the kid in the car all day?

Special occasion is like birthday, anniversary, Christmas, Happy New Year that where some parent drinking liquors, but it don't apply to you because you don't drink alcoholic beverage, so it is moot to debate with me over religious belief.

No, it isn't okay to leave the kid all day and they need find way to take care of kid after they get new job. I will not get kid if I don't have enough family to support.

It has nothing to do with a religious belief. The point is, some people will put their alcohol purchase above the safety of their children, whether it's a special occasion or not.

Some parents will put anything (a haircut, a tanning session, shopping, gaming, whatever) over the safety of their children.

That's what is sad, frightening, and disgusting. Children are treated like an inconvenience to their lifestyle.

Ok this whole locked car thing is getting me too... you cannot lock any car to where it is impossible to get out unless you weld the front doors shut. My 6 year old son knows how to roll down a window.

Yes, it is, but how you could fix to make perfect world?

I heard about some European countries have subsidized daycare that where government fund it.

I really would like to know how others feel about the change to putting kids in the back seat and leaving them in the car by accident relate to each other.
Still no excuse. Anyway, I think more parents leave their child(ren) in the car on purpose than by accident like this mother in the article. She knew they were there.

Child "safety" door locks can prevent them from opening the rear doors.

Babies can't open the doors themselves.

Some power windows won't work without the car power being on.

No, I never have.

Besides, most gas stations now allow customers to pay at the pump with a card.

Went out today for about 2 hours...left my doggie at home. Even tho' it's raining and cool outside. The shopping center I went to is right next to a Police Substation....and I was reluctant to leave my doggie in the car, with the AC on low and under a shady tree, with the windows cracked a little.....*sigh*...was worried someone would report it, and my car makes no noise while running!

Of course, if I had a child, I would take him/her inside. But not my doggie.

I think it would be a lot cheaper if one just simply break window. The cost of window replacement is way way too cheap than somebody's life.

Everyone, relax! The article switched the story, here's the real story;

Video proves Houston-area mom did not abandon kids in hot car | wfaa.com Dallas - Fort Worth

So Parents needs to be careful and made sure they have their keys before closing the door with their kids in the back seat . It would had been great if news reporters checked the story out before putting it on the news , that where I first heard about this. Some stores allow people to bring a small dog in with them. We are not allowed let our cars idles more than 5 minutes in my state but the law is not enforced

Yes, make sense, most businesses don't allow pets but they welcome children.

There is power windows lock for child safety, too.
