Anyone who is deaf still do Jury Duty?

Good question. Do not know the answer to that one. Wish I did.
As a citizen of your state you should know that. Look it up.

Since you don't drive, I'm guessing that it's not drivers' licenses. It could be your state ID card.

Yeah, probably. Except they sent it to the wrong address.

Never served....probably good thing too...never knowing which or what the case will be about....as I tend to over-react when it comes to child molesters, rapists, etc.....Heck...there might be a murder in the Court room if I was called for jury duty and that was a Case....

If your Florida court system is anything like ours here in CA, those issues would be found out from you and you'd be excused faster than you can say........(insert whatever)

Hopefully...or they would be trying 2 cases instead of 1....

I almost had to serve on a child abuse jury except I knew one of the witnesses, so I was dismissed.

The other jury duty I had were not emotional cases.

Not in my case. You see, the day I got my letter, there were only 10 days until jury selection, and that not only presented a huge problem, but legal challenges, as well, as they were asking me to travel to 26th and California, which is a LONG way from my home.

I remember going to that area myself for jury duty. It was some years ago. Maybe 2005? 2006? It was quite some time ago. I'm pretty sure I had more than 10 days.

Maybe they use another list, life voter registrations. Did you update your address for that, too?

Did you research it online yet?

Not yet. I'm focused on figuring out what to do for lunch, and I need to stretch my legs, too, so a stroll is in order. Think I'll go to another store and get what I need to eat.

I'll text you the details. You'll understand better.

I don't see why not depending on the case....I would turn it down because of migrains and medications I take....migrains being most debilitaing

I won't be called to jury duty any more. I was excused from jury duty because they didn't want the expense of an interpreter. LOL

I know there defence deaf lawyers.. I surppose it could problematic having interpreter it comes down to what sort of case and if defendant happy about it...I think I read or seen it somewhere it has happened but I not sure

This is more of a cost issue. They have to provide equipment for the deaf juror in addition to the lawyers agreeing upon it. Unless you had a deaf case, you probably wouldn't make it to trial.

Had been summoned many times to make the call to request interpreter and postponed to make schedule. Never made it to the jury box. :)

I just got my summons. I have to call in on April 1st to see if I am needed to attend. If it's a no on that day you call the next, I believe you do this for 5 days. I don't know how to sign so an interpreter would not do me any good. Anyway hubby is calling my doctor to get a health excuse due to my health issues. My brothers who are cops still get called for jury duty.
