Charges against girl, 18, in same-sex underage relationship

Of course, it is part of common sense.

No sexual contact at all if you don't want in trouble with law.

no. the minimum age of consent is 16.
 
I think it's a good Law....as I would not want or allow my 14 year old to have sex with an 18 year old.....OR my 14 year old having sex at all!

Feeling it might be a "wake up" call for some teens...even my friend's son, who was arrested for having sex with a 15 yr. old girl, spent a year in jail and labeled a Sexual Offender...when we found out, my boys were "shocked".....It was their friend and his name was Chris.....So we again, discussed this case over the dinner table.

And my boys reaction to having sex in the school bathrooms?...."Nasty!"...At their high school, they do have bathroom(s) "monitors"...still some pot smoking does go on, but is reported whenever they are caught....

Really wish Kaitlyn would have taken the plea deal offered to her....

One count for the second incident in the bathroom and one count for the incident at Kaitlyn's home. Not sure why there was no charge for the first bathroom incident.

I do too. If the judge accepted the no contest plea she most likely would have retained all of her rights.

I feel sorry for her and I rarely root in criminal cases but I am rooting against her. Our court system needs to take a stand here and show that courts are still about facts.

I am surprised no one has brought up the fact that the victim might have felt compelled to give in to advances not only because she was young but also because she was black and trying to fit in. That is why laws like these exist....to prevent children from being manipulated by people with more "power" or "status. These laws are valid and necessary. Kaitlyn to a gamble believing emotions carry more weight than law.

As I mentioned, the prosecutor was notified yesterday about Kate's secret twitter account. She has now closed it. The prosecutor has the entire account printed out though.

It seems risker because lascivious and lewd charge cover on 12-16 years old, yet minimum age of consent is 16. If someone is 18 years old and had sex with 16 years old, so 16 years old parent could press charge against them under lewd charge.

If 18 years old to 17 years old - the charge no longer apply.

that's for coercion or no consent

All of us that are adults used to be teenagers. But those that are now are probably encountering things that are very different than when we were. Especially for the older ones of us like myself where it is over 50 years ago.

Previously, Hunt's parents said that the younger girl was 15, and Hunt 17 when the relationship began. The release of the arrest warrant made clear, as subsequent news stories report, that the younger girl was 14 and Hunt was indeed 18 when the relationship began.

These corrections, and the initial dishonesty of Hunt's parents, make this story much more problematic, and our original petition moot.

I feel sorry for people in the GLBT community who were conned and played as pawns by these people.
 
Yeah, that's what happens when a family try to defend a loved ones at all costs. Unfortunately, their public image will go downhill and get worse once the truth comes out. It's sad and shame, but that's how it is with most cases. Katie needs her family support but with a huge cost and burden.
