Just curious.. anyone with night blindness?

I don't know. I'm very near sighted though. It's possible as my research suggests that it's very common in people. The next time I see the eye doctor I'll have to ask him to test me for it.

deafskeptic,

since you mentioned that you're nearsighted, it sounds like you're myopic.

Night Vision goggle

I dont have problems seeing at night but my best
friend and some other friends do have night blindness
and i truly sympthize with them..it is stressful for
them not able to drive at night or anything especially
if they are single people.

Very funny, Aghori, but dont think it is feasible for
people who need to drive at night, heh?

OK, it's called Nyctalopia. Its a progressive rod (light sensitive) degeneration, although in my case, it's unecessary blood vessel growth plowing throgh my rods and cones. It has appeared stable for quite awhile.

"nyctalopia' means night blindness in general. it's not a diagnosis, it's a symptom. For example, retinitis pigmentosa causes nyctalopia. RP is the disease, night blindness is the symptom.

To improve by see in dark, I usually close my eyes for few minutes and focus deep then open eyes. I can see dark so well.

It just how eyes able to focus well than suddenly in dark that would make us temporary blind.

I don't think you understand. The people with Usher Syndrome/RP have night-blindness. Can you research about Retinitis Pigmentosa and Usher syndrome over the google? You don't have a RP or US. It mean you can see at dark very well. Normal vision and RP/US vision are different.

I guess you are referring to me.

I did not realize I was obligated to respond on your terms.

You need to understand that not all post get answered right away.

Not all post are subjected to be answered especially when you don't ask a question.

If you are looking for a response for the links then.... I thank you for providing them.

I am sorry. I didn't reply or come to AD for a while. Please forgive me.

Correct! Nothing you can do. Blink, squint, etc. Still can not see.

It is totally different from a person, that is trying to adjust their eyes.

I did blink and squint my eyes. I still can't see it at dark when I turn the light off in bedroom. I can see it's black background expect bright window and clock. I can't see what my husband's sign to me at dark. I told him to use blackberry to type it. It was so frustrate with dark when I can't see. :(

I know how you feel!! Hubby uses the BB with me too at night.. :D

It is highly frustrating. but we have a huge halogen light outside for when friends come over for cook outs and parties in our back yard. So I can see some.

We we go camping I assure you, we have the brightest campsite! :giggle: Lanterns everywhere!

Just hate having to wake hubby up to walk me to the bathroom(while camping). Flashlights are not good enough for me, to see exactly where I am going.

Even during the daytime I get frustrated due to I bump, trip, stub my toes on things.

I really love to go camping expect dark at night. I can go near the bonfire to see what people said. I can see them so clear. I must to have a brightest campsite too! I do bump, trip, stub on my toes on things many times! That's why I like to be clean and organize in my apt. It's safe for me to walk through. I must wear a clog shoes for home. So my toes will not get stub. I can't stand to come someone's house with non environment! It's too dark, messy and dump the stuff on the floors. It made me mad. I used to go Castle Haunted House. Someone have to lead me. It's frustrated to me when I walk and not see the rock or small wet in the hole. My shoe got wet. My ex bf think it's funny!. It made me mad! I can't see in dark. I stopped to go for reason. I gave up to go Bar with my sister in the law and friends. I can't see the dark and couldn't hear the music. It made me feel boring and lonely. My family and friends have heartbroken for me not see the dark. I avoided the social with them. I prefer to stay home at night.

I don't see too well at night also...and avoid driving at night....after reading all these posts....I'm seeing my eye doctor tomorrow! My eyes are "light sensitive", so I use low lighting in my home, always wear sun glasses during the daytime too.

Like you, my eyes have always been very light sensitive. I have had a light tint on my glasses since I was around 14 because the overhead lighting in so many public places bothers me. The lighting in classrooms and the offices are bothersome...interferes with my ability to actually see words on pages or on my computer screen. But with the tint, it is helped tremendously. I also use Transition lenses for sunlight.

My night vision is something that has gotten worse as I've gotten older, and my eye doctor told me it is to be expected. I don't know if it is connected to the light sensitivity, though, because I've had that since I was a kid. They told me the light sensitivity is a result of the astigmatism. I noticed just a couple of nights ago, when I was walking across the parking lot in the rain at night, I am starting to have trouble seeing where the curb is. I really had to focus to make sure I stepped up at the right place! Getting older is so much fun!

Foxrac.. Go out at night. Put on a pair of dark sunglasses... Then take two toilet paper rolls. Put them over the sunglasses, looking through them, and walk around in the dark.

Then you get the Idea.

This is one of the old threads I dug up. It is when I first realized that I may have Usher syndrome. I did not got to the doctor until recently. It is amazing how long I waited to get a diagnosis, and move forward.

I can't drive at nights anymore ,it just got harder in the past few years . I have 20/20 eye vision , it was 20/15 when I was younger . I hate not being able to drive at night.
