All about electric cars!

The thing is that diesel trains is basically runs a huge diesel generator to feed electricity to the huge 6,000 lb electric motors in each axles...about 4 of them. The trains are about 85% more fuel efficient than back in the 1980's. Trains are more efficient carrying bigger loads of cargo than smaller load of cargos. Semi trucks are better for carrying fewer cargos which is cheaper.

Well, I can see the modern electric vehicles are good for homeowners where the electric car need to be plugging 240 volt outlet for overnight charging. Sounds pretty and easy. One big problem is... If a mother raise a newborn baby or little kids, and easy to forget to plugging her car to recharge the battery pack when arriving home from trip or whatever. Next morning she find "Low Battery" or "Recharge Battery" messenger in dash even she have a Dr appt or drop kids off school. Headache.... But you like an electric car. Cool but not me. Gas is the faster and easy and grab drinks and snacks then you go in hurry time.

:lol:, We don't own any electric cars. How about build electric horse for The Kentucky Derby race? Yes? or NO? I prefer real Arabian horse same as real gas powered car. What's wrong with electric car?
 
Do I have right to have some reasonable doubts? What I am saying is that I do not believe this that it would ever happen at the magnitude that you have dream of, IN MY LIFETIME. Until I see the real proof by "Regularly" seen alternative fuel vehicles around. I have not seen much lately, sorry about it. Maybe I need new glasses for all you care.

I love you guys at AD, I hope you are right and I am wrong on this time. All I am asking is "time will tell". That is why I am saying might not going to happen in my lifetime, but whatever alternative fuel going to happen next and it will probably happen after I dive under 6 feet and rest in my case.

No, not really. I have talks about buying a RV trailer and have fun. That is one reason why I bought this diesel truck and still have other gas car.
I take my family to vacation from time to time. I did rent RV already and went to state park, love em cause one with disability gets free or deep discounts on any fees though State parks.

Each person is different, they got lifestyle of their own. I have my own lifestyles.

There are alot news that I have heard in the last 40 years and tell you the truth, NONE of them have actually materialized.

Lets start with how Rockefeller became rich, he was damn greedy until supreme court had to break up his oil business.

During 70's alot people get frenzy about alternative fuel, then when one company got had some success turning coal into fuel for cars, what happened after that? Gas price plummet and they abandoned the idea of coal into fuel.

During 80s, there is another oil crisis, I am not sure if you recall that one of college student were able to create energy just though room temperature? I remember clearly, the news has been around just few days then it went dead, exact what happened there? That part was so fishy. Then oil company dropped the gas price, what happened after that? We forgot all about it and return to normal.

Now it happened AGAIN, oil prices has risen, somebody come up the idea whatever on alternative fuel. Trust me, once oil company sees it as threat dropped prices then in few years from now, we all will forget this had happened.

One of you guys said Oil companies add Biofuel in gasoline. Just because oil company wants to help? That is a joke! It was EPA that forced oil companies to add Ethanol into gas. It has caused damages to some engines and EPA don't give damn.

I followed over years and that is how I SEES it, and that creates reason for my doubts.

me what? I didn't keep on talking about alternative fuels and myths. you are.

I am trying to tell you that oil companies are not just working on gas and alternative fuel. they work on many things such as solar power, wind power, etc. it's entirely up to auto companies to create engine that can work with certain type of fuel and that's why oil companies work together with auto companies like Shell and Toyota.

but you need to be practical and economical about it. you can't just make a new type of fuel and then spend billions of dollars converting all gas stations with only 1 or 2 car models that can use that special fuel.

You need everybody to work together - government, oil companies, auto companies, etc. to make it practical on larger scale.
 
That I couldn't agree with you any more. Yes it does take "Everyone" to work together to make it happen. The problem is that I noticed oil companies are the one that is really playing public's mind over years. I already noticed their market tactics and their stunts. Also, Americans tends to be individualist and they all want for themselves and don't care about others. Plus our country is capitalism, and one would be naive to believe that oil companies really "Care" about us. They all care about one thing, M O N E Y and yes this disgusting me and I am sure you can agree with me on this one. So, when you mix these perspective together how it would come up as if it is truly a promising? I find it hard to believe. Same with criminals, they have repeat their own crimes and when they spent years behind bars. They admit they have changed and will not repeat the crime, do we normally believe them or we would respond with reasonable doubts?

Your are missing my point.

Show me evidence that Oil companies actually working on alternative fuel please? It has to be significant, not just their "side job" to make them look good.

There you go, can't convert fuel station overnight, that is where Oil company has huge advantage and play games with us. Here in Rochester NY, we have only one alternative fuel station for 10 years, why not build more by now?

No I don't agree with you on about money part. I love money. Why would I not care about profits if I have my own business?????

Oil companies are capitalist. they KNOW cars will get be more and more gas-efficient. that's why they're investing in green technology to continue reaping in profits.

if electric cars have solar power technology to recharge itself... then chance is it's going to use what oil companies invented. ka-ching!!!!!
