That is the problem. Eye witness accounts. The least reliable source of information available.

No bait. You made the statement:

"If that is the only time we celebrate, then we are not really following the teachings of Jesus."

Spreading the Good news takes care of that starting with Luke, for example.

If you cannot qualify your statement a bit more when asked, why bother?

This is baiting because I can no more sum up Jesus in one posting (or one thread) than I could sum up my life in one posting. I think you take a simplistic view of the Bible. It's not intended to be a historical record. It's intended to convey to you through stories and examples of how you should live your life. There are people here in AD that follow many of the rules set in the bible but do not practice Christianity. I think that should tell you something fundamental about the roll that the bible has played in our history and the shaping of our societies. This is why you should "bother".

I think the Golden rule would be good place to start: Luke 6:31
"And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise" KJV
"Treat others just as you want to be treated." CEV (Contemporary English version)

Kokonut, you should remember that many army soldiers killed witnesses to conceal Jesus' existence and they destroyed evidences...
