Do I have that signing style?

A lot of deafies I've met wouldn't believe that I'm deaf... They kept claiming that I'm a deaf wanna be or CODA even. WTF? :dunno2:

WTF is a deaf wanna be? Like an asl student who wants to go to bar and pretend to be deaf? I've met one of those...

Same thing happen to me. Lot of deafies think I'm deaf. So, one day I joined deaf bowling league, that was back in late 80's and one deaf guy came up to me suspiciously, asking me if I"m deaf. I told him yes. Few minutes later my alpha-numeric pager went off wanting me to call at work..it's related to servers issues. So I walk up to the pay phone and call someone at work. While I was talking on the phone, I suddenly felt the jolt on the back of my head, it's someone who slapped on the back of my head. It was the same guy who asked me earlier if I'm deaf or not, shouted at me..."YOU ARE NOT DEAF!!!!" I was like JEESH!! IF I take my fucking hearing aids off...I"m deaf!! If I fucking take off my glasses...I'm blind! I can't see anything!! I can't read!! So, as far as hearing people go... they think I'm hearing with Britich accent, they didn't know that I"m deaf. With CODA or any interpreter.. they called me fake deaf person.
I love my life.
 
Ok so I have to ask what is the definition of deaf and HOH is it based on audi? I have always referred to my daughter as HOH until she declared she was Deaf at age 3 she has severe to profound loss mine is now on the same border but I am HH... Ignorance at its best what can I say

the way I see it -

you're HOH if you can talk thru telephone or can hear little bit without HA.
you're deaf if you're.. uh.. deaf lol. some people are not comfortable with "deaf" label and prefer "HOH" label.

I can talk thru phone but can't hear others.:giggle: I can still hear some without my Ha's like I know when someone is talking and I should start paying attention but can't understand what they are saying and my asl is horrible! And I still think hearing, so I am HH
 
So how do you approach the situation if you see a girl you are interested in and she is a hearie

Yes, it is true.

I dont feel comfortable to tell i am deaf, i prefer to hoh label because i can talk and social with hearing friends.

that's fine if you want to be labeled as HOH.... but I ask you this - can you hear?

I would show polite and gentle to girl because I am interested in her then she will know i am going to meet her and go out with her.
 
I did before at cornell, show gentle like hearing man makes woman feel comfortable and warm.

you know what is ivy guy? yes, I am.
