well... another hurricane... looks like Earl's getting quite :mad2: there...

my fellow Southern ADers - be safe. be prepared.

Hurricane Earl - weather.com

now it's Category 4 :Ohno:

this means this may put a damper on my labor holiday weekend

We may get wind and rain, but not much. It's too far out in the Atlantic.

Some of us in the neighborhood put our hurricane shutters up on the hard to get areas right at the beginning of hurricane season. Our garage is half covered up already and the house is all open right now. Next door since it's just a lady and her very sick invalid husband, she has 2/3 of her windows covered already.

Gosh, it sounds like bad.

Jiro and ADers from Atlantic states, be prepare and safe for hurricane and you will still in my thinking.

it hit near Puerto Rico. AD member Dismal Shadow lives there. He may fear to happen his new SUV during storm when buying it last week.

Oh really, Dismal Shadow is no longer to be person in online due issues with Facebook.

There's 3 hurricanes out there now...."what if" they unite....make the "perfect storm" ???....

Rip currents at the beach, several people had to be helped out of the water....news advises people to stay out of the water, it's so bad!...

We're gonna get rain and more rain...looks like the holiday is gonna be rained out....

It would be almost impossible to have hurricanes "combine" into one storm. They require so much energy and ingredients that the outflow of a hurricane will dampen development of a storm system with tropical cyclone characteristics within a few hundred miles of each other. Sorry if that seems clear as mud. :aw:

PFH reporting from the colorful state of Colorado.

We have not been hit by Hurricane Earl. It's perfectly sunny and 85 degrees outside with a slight breeze. Don't forget your water for these hikes up the mountains.

Have a good day.

Guess, I'll have to see if I have to stock up on food or whatever. I know I have a plenty of AA batteries...lol

Just too bad my laptop or DS don't use AA batteries ha.

Even though hurricane is scary and dangerous, they are actually cool to watch during daytime. ^^; (Yeah, I have seen several hurricanes and guess I am somewhat used to it. Still afraid of trees falling to house or flooding caused by hurricanes though.)

Just checked the map again and realized it's bound to hit NC this week...if it is staying on the path.

Didn't realize it is coming that fast. Oh well.

Ol Earl looks like he wants to stay in the water to me.......I won't dust off the work boots just yet.

what do you call 3 hurricanes that combine?

a gargantuan problem!

lol the answer is no. the hurricanes cannot combine together into one bad ass hurricane. it's because of the Fujiwhara Effect.

You can use emergency battery backup that use AA batteries.

Hugo in 1989, was essentially the spark that insighted my facination with weather. From that point in childhood, I WANTED to really study weather. Obviously I have different career, but still have my weather affectionado tendencies.

....As for Earl, it sure is looking like some serious weather making machine. Seriously intensifying  Perhaps cat 5 sometime soon??? If it speeds up before being drawn NE direction, it could maybe have same path as hurricane Floyd too??? Either way lets hope not have a serious impact on eastern seaboard.

Wait until Thursday the day it probably hit the coast? Supplies would be long gone by then. People like to panic early sometimes, lol. I think I am gonna stock up on supplies tomorrow morning just in case and to get away from busy day if it is actually true.
