Love to do gardening?

I will do collection all raspberries and green pea to freeze today.....Maybe post picture :D

There are some raspberries growing in my back yard but there are not being cared for. I am wish I could work on them but I live in a condo and it not my yard. What a drag as I like raspberries . The berries are really small , at least the birds can enjoy them

Here are examples of my problem with squash plants:

The ground look very dry and dead , and you could try putting some top soil
in your garden. It is best to rotate your crops too, if keep planting the same thing in one place it rob the soil of it nutrients. Would you be up to using compost , it does take some work to get it started , but it does help poor soil. I was worked a farm in CA and the soil was rockey and poor , we made compost and it really helped to grow plants . Companion planting is
also a great way to go food. The plants give one another nutrients.

Enjoying!!! :)

The entire box is all topsoil and mulch. It was watered almost every day by afternoon thunderstorms or by soaker hoses. I don't know why it looks that way because it gets lots of water.

Yes, I rotate crops. It's easy for me to remember which boxes had which crops each year. The ones in the pictures are all new this year. New boxes, new soil, new plants, new seeds. I thought if I started new it would do better but it didn't.

Yes, I include compost (have been for years). I also mixed in organic plant food.

What is a good companion for squash?

No rocks around here. The natural soil is clay, so we don't use that.

good companion for squash are:

Beans, Corn, Mint, Nasturtium, Onion, Radish, Sunflower, Tansy

I tried to get the link for you but it would not work . Maybe your squash is getting over watered. I watered my tomatoes plants that in a pot ,then we got some rain and I forgot to move my pots back , and one plant got over watered. My one of my pepper is not doing good , the leaves are getting black spots on them. It is hard to grow plants to , I have better luck growing food in a real garden. I think squash leaves do not like a lot of water , it rot them.

I found this about squash in another blog, I knew there something about squash leaves getting to wet. The leaves have little hairs and if they get too wet the leaves will get mildew . Plants that have fuzzy leaves can get mildew easy.

"I have two squash plants that have been, up until now, doing very well. One started separating and losing leaves - it now has some mildew looking places on two leaves. The other has some leaves dying, but no mildew looking spots on them. Would appreciate any help on how to eliminate the mildew and perk my plants back up.
BTW, this is my first garden.

Thanks!

First of all, never water in the late afternoon, as leaves don't get dry and you get mildew. Can't remember the fungicide we used last year, but your local nursery will know. "

I've tried the onion and radishes before, and currently have sunflowers growing. I don't think there's room for corn. Maybe I'll try something else next time.

That's OK. :)

The weird thing is, it's not the leaves that rot on my plants. It rots from the base of the stem.

I'll keep researching.

Reba, that should be a sign your soil does not have good drainage. Is it clay like soil?

Our natural soil is like clay but that's not what I have in my garden boxes. We bought top soil, and mixed with compost, to make our own garden soil. They seem to drain well because when I water them the water drains out the bottom of the planter boxes while I'm still watering.
