Rush is moving to Costa Rica?

That's exactly what ObamaCare is. You don't know what you're talking about, do you?

"Life expectancy in Costa Rica for men is 76 years and for women 79.8 years, both longer than in the USA. Also the infant mortality rate is a lot less in Costa Rica in comparison with the USA. The UN (United Nations) has ranked Costa Rica’s public health system within the top 20 worldwide and the number 1 in Latin America!

With a network sponsored by the government with 29 public hospitals and more than 250 medical clinics throughout Costa Rica, the Social Security System (CCSS) has the primary responsibility for providing health services at low costs to the Costa Rican population. Not just available for Costa Ricans, the CCSS also provides low cost medical service to any foreign resident or tourist."

Costa Rica Health Care

Hello!??! It's a SOCIALIZED medical CARE!

I see so much cognitive dissonance here.

Just to be clear..... you are saying that Obama's plan and Costa Rica's plan are exactly the same?

The care provided is the same. The options provided are the same The limitations are the same. The structure is the same. The funding model (not numbers) is the same. It's EXACTLY the same.....correct?

In fact all, by your statement in bold you are saying ALL socialized medical care is exactly the same......Correct?

medicaid and medicare is socialized healthcare too. more likely socialized health insurance than healthcare.

limited and restrictive. shoddy too. UK's NHS makes Medicaid/Medicare look shameful.

The quality of medical care varies but they all are covered by taxes and private sectors can participate.

USA is the only industrialized country that doesn't have universal health care.

Why do you hate Americans?

You're failing to see TX's POV

It is NOT my problem that you fail to see the whole absurdity of your own arguments against socialized health care yet praise health care in other countries when in fact, they are socialized as well.

yes or no will suffice.

are Obama's health care plan and Costa Rica's health care plan exactly the same?

No but his question is obviously rhetorical. All universal health care involves the government, hence being "socialized."

Anything "socialized" and you'll hear cries from conservatives. They don't care about you, period.

No [snipped because it's boring] :)

ah... so your previous post is wrong then that both Obama's plan and Costa Rica's plan are not the same at all.
What private company here in USA offers $100 a month?

Remember, it has to be done through the govenrment owned insurance. :)

And you all are raving about Costa Rica healtcare which is virtually what ObamaCare is about. :)

you fool, it's about government being involved into medical care. Same thing - both require government intervention.

Netrox, stop insulting people and discuss civilly!

I mean dude.... have you seen Jay Leno's "Jaywalking" segment? It's where he walks around and pick a random person to ask a basic history question. It's...... appalling. I'm a Korean immigrant who just recently became American citizen few years ago (but I lived here for over 25 years) and I know the American history better than probably 80% of Americans.

Here are some outrageous answers from his segment
1. Abraham Lincoln is American's first president
2. Some people thought we were at war with France (not Iraq)
3. Some people do not know how many stars we have on our American flag
4. Handful of them do not know what our American flag means (stars & stripes)
4. Handful of them did not know Al Gore was our VP
5. Handful of them were not able to identify the picture of politicians like Hillary Clinton

and..... Rush Limbaugh's fans are those type

please... if you're gonna proudly sing Star Spangle song and hang American flag at front of your house - please know a thing or two about it
Sorry if someone's already brought this up, but on what do you base that? This poll found that Rush's listeners' knowledge is above average of the American public: Limbaugh Holds onto his Niche -- Conservative Men - Pew Research Center

It's not the most rigorous study in the world since they only asked three questions, but at least it's better than just going off unfounded stereotypes.

I love Americans....that is the reason I don't want to see them, their children and their grandchildren burdened with this plan. Especially when we haven't tried cheaper alternatives first.

I never praised Costa Rica health care system. I merely stated that their private hospitals provide excellent care. It has alot of problem too

My question to you was not rhetorical. You stated the plans were the same. So I asked if they were EXACTLY the same. You finally answered No, not exactly. Well, although I didn't praise CRs health care, it is possible that someone could like CRs plan but not Obama's since they are not exactly the same. For instance, even though by types are funded by taxes, there could be completely different methods for accessing those taxes. That could leave someone to like one plan but not the other. And that's just one example.

In bold, it is unnecessary to say.

Txgolfer is American, of course so he isn't share the same agreement as you does since we have different opinions.

I'm support health care reform, even public options.

Oh I agree that we need health care reform....... I just don't like this plan, especially in this economy. I think we should give the cheap options a try first.

Part of the problem is that Americans have been trying to push the public healthcare since the '50s, right? Every time liberals are in office, they try to push the healthcare thing through the door and get rejected every time. Shouldn't be a surprise they tried again; only difference is now that people are bitching about high costs of private healthcare now-- hence the big debate now compared to the previous liberal presidents.

1. Jay Leno's show
2. there was a documentary show which I cannot remember but an interviewer went around to get some idea on where we are in terms of knowledge. Even a Harvard student got it wrong.
3. Education Week: U.S. History Knowledge
On average, college seniors earned a failing grade—answering 54.2 percent of questions correctly—on a basic U.S. history exam, just 3.8 percentage points higher than their freshman counterparts, according to a study conducted by the Wilmington,...
4. College Seniors Lack Basic Knowledge in American History
According to the survey, professors believe 81 percent of college seniors are at a D or F grade level when it comes to American history. In addition, the survey found that many college seniors had a difficult time identifying words from the Gettysburg Address or identifying main concepts from the Constitution.
5. Study shows US College students have inadequate knowledge of American history and institutions
Students at some of the nation’s top universities have a woefully inadequate knowledge of US history and institutions, according to report released today by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI). The report was based on the ISI’s yearly survey of 14000 freshmen and seniors at 50 US colleges and universities. Participants in the survey were administered a 60 question exam testing their knowledge of history, government, international relations, and the market economy.
6. Americans don't know civics
From high-school dropouts to college graduates to elected officials, Americans are "alarmingly uninformed" about the USA's history, founding principles and economy — knowledge needed to participate wisely in civic life, says a report scheduled to be released Thursday.

The study, the third in a series by the non-profit Intercollegiate Studies Institute, finds that half of U.S. adults can name all three branches of government, and 54% know that the power to declare war belongs to Congress. Almost 40% incorrectly said that it belongs to the president.

And while 56% can name Paula Abdul as a judge on American Idol, only 21% know that the phrase "government of the people, by the people, for the people" comes from Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. Just 54% can correctly identify a basic description of the free enterprise system.

Those who have held elected office lack civic knowledge; 43% do not know the Electoral College is a constitutionally mandated assembly that elects the president. One in five thinks it "trains those aspiring for higher office" or "was established to supervise the first televised presidential debates."

"Without knowledge of your country's history, key texts and institutions, you don't have a frame of reference to judge the politics and policies of today," says Richard Brake, head of the institute's American Civic Literacy Program.

Earlier reports focused solely on college students; the new study expands the focus and concludes Americans across all economic, educational and political/social backgrounds are equally lacking. Among findings:

• 71% earn an F; the average score was 49%. Ages 25 to 34 had an average score of 46%; ages 45 to 64 had a 52% average. Of 164 respondents who say they have held elected office, 44% was average.

• Those with bachelor's degrees had an average score of 57% vs. 44% for those with a high-school diploma. The average score for advanced degree-holders inches up to 65%, or a D.

• Civic knowledge declines in proportion to time spent using passive media, such as TV. Reading and talking about history and current events, using the Internet and being involved in political activities has a positive effect.
need more? you should know better that Jiro does not make unfounded stereotype :)
