unfreaking believable...

Who say to toss your old p3 away? You can keep your old P3 for play PS2 only. :giggle:
Who want more than four USB ports? That's all you need two ports for controller and fan/keyboard. Good enough.

I still have to take it in to Sony cause my old PS3 can't read ANY discs.

Okay...it've been taken care of now. Sony will send me a box via UPS 8 to 10 days. ship it back to Sony and will not have it back until 2 weeks later so obviously...I won't have it back before christmas, as I hoped. *sigh* of course I have to pay $149 plus tax and shipping but at least it's getting fixed. It better NOT happen again so Im gonna be extra careful with the updates they give out.

Make sure to disable the auto update.

I never expected something like this to happen to me...now it did. I am a proud PS3 owner and something just happened after I just got the latest patch to MW2.

I turned on my PS3, play MW2, and then a notice came up saying the latest patch is up for download so I thought it was odd for another patch cause we just got the other patch only a week ago and now this? so I went ahead to download it and after that, went to the MW2 menu and select multiplayer and as I did that...the screen went black and I have to reboot it so when I did and went to the XMB, something was missing...the disc icon don't show so I took the disc out and try it again and it still dont show. I reboot it and try again and it still dont show. I tried the other PS3 game, the PS2 game, the DVD movie, the Blu-ray movie...and none of it worked. I tried the restore default settings as well and it still dont show...sigh so I guess it appears that I have a failed blu-ray drive and have to contact sony abt this soon. VERY bad timing before the holidays season...and I can't afford to pay $150 for this soon. I guess I would have to go afew months without playing MW2 and other PS3 games...I assumed the patch had something to do with it, but Sony or Infinity ward won't admit it...so fuck them.

There is no auto update feature in the PS3

Look at bold. :dunno:

I researched that most of the firmware 3.10 is causing bluetooth issues... My friend had it updated to 3.10 and he has no issues at all.

Yes, bluetooth issues happened on alot of slim PS3 versions so they have to connect the controller via USB wired to get the signal but without it, it keeps giving them the 4 red flashing lights on the controller telling you it is not getting the corrected signal. Alot of slim PS3 owners reported those issues at the Playstation.com forums...it isn't really a common problem anyway.

Disc read errors occur to be more of a common problem and yet, Sony will not take any responsibility to that due to the stupid user's agreement.

All my friends I know who owns a PS3 say they do not have any problems with theirs so I guess they are just lucky while it seems that I was randomly chosen to be a victim somehow and have no choice but to send it in if I want to keep playing my PS3 and all so...fuck Sony.

It happens to me again, Im giving it away to gamestop and get the slim version which will keep me under warranty for a year...they better extend the warranty cause one year warranties for most stuff hardly look good anymore.

Have you thought of a class action lawsuit? You could team up with other PS3 owners who have the same disc read errors and do that.

The class action lawsuit is going to be dismissed on the 21st cause they find that to be a pointless case, with one of the owners who sued Sony because his console is still under warranty, and he can get it fixed/replaced for free anyway but I don't know bout the other owner...but it seems most likely he will get that dismissed on him as well.

Of course alot of us are angry about that.

Oh, really. I think the bigger the class action lawsuit the better it is....more power against a company.

There are some reports say PS3 3.15 update is due later in Dec 17th. I wonder it may fixes the disc error? It only updates PS3 consoles with new PS3 data transfer and enable PS3 to allow PSP mini to play the games on it. Nothing about fixes on disc errors.

someone told me that the next update most likely will not fix the disc read error. If it can't read any discs, then it cant read any discs. It is most likely required to be repaired/replaced so...waiting for the shipping box from sony.

Sometime bad firmware can destroy hardware and no way to repair. Only way to replace the new hardware.

PS3 Firmware 3.15 Live with Fixes

Hit your system update option, PS3 owners, and you'll discover firmware revision 3.15 snuck onto Sony's distribution servers overnight. According to PlayStation Lifestyle, it includes a fix for a few issues introduced in the 3.10 update, and introduces PSP Minis to the PS3 itself.

PSP Minis are Sony's bid to peddle relatively inexpensive, 'bite-sized' games. PSP owners have had access to the Minis catalog since October, but today's firmware update marks the first time PS3 owners can give them a whirl natively using an emulator. As of December 17, all PSP Mini releases will work on both the PS3 and PSP, and players who'd previously bought one for the PSP will be able to pull it down again, gratis, for use on their PS3. All that's left to do? Rebrand them PS Minis.

Other additions reportedly include Bluetooth and trophy synchronization fixes, an XMB icon for Minis save data, and more intriguingly, a LAN data transfer utility that lets players wire two PS3s together with a standard Ethernet cable to transfer save data.

Of course that's probably of little use to any of you with massive external USB drives, who already routinely backup save data, music, or video files without complaint. No word if it'll let you bring across 'locked' save data, like the save files in Atlus's Demon's Souls--if it did, it would suddenly be a lot more interesting to guys like me, who have two systems (debug, retail) for occupational reasons.

PS3 Firmware 3.15 Live with Fixes - PC World

Since I did not update my PS3 to 3.10, and my PS3 still operates fine. I should not need any more updates to have them mess up my PS3 system. :hmm:

It is getting really annoying of Sony putting up too much updates to this system.

Xbox360 and Wii usually get like one or two updates a year and for the PS3, gets like, 10 updates a year! no wonder alot of PS3 systems are fucked up and Sony still wont admit any fault to this.

and no, 3.15 did NOT fix my PS3. I just got the box from Sony so I will ship it back to them via UPS tomorrow.
