Windows 7 official pricing announced

Nothing wrong with Mac OS X for businesses either. I've seen some Macs in businesses. Even one of Toyota service dept has Macs.

Why people prefer PC for business because PCs are so cheap to buy but in long run, it costs money to fix.

My work at Enterprise uses PC with Windows with CRT monitors and it's kind of slow because it's running off a server spread to a bunch of networking PCs with no cpu. I believe it's Windows server OS.

I means most businesses are prefer with Windows, it's not only because of cheap, also it does offers alot of thing that meet their needs and different preference.

Mac is popular for graphic design (not gaming design unless written in Mac or other consoles), some film companies, some education and several businesses, I can't think about more because too many place use Windows.

I'm not pro-Windows users but I was just point about reason of many businesses prefer Windows.

I do prefer Mac over Windows for general, except for games, however I'm really don't care about what kind of OS that would use, just make sure if it is stable and speedy.

I still have MacBook Pro and will sell soon or trade-in via one Mac website to get new unibody MacBook Pro because I dislike old MacBook Pro design due bent in DVD player, LCD hinge issue and defective graphic card, it has been replace at once.

There are too many idiot out there don't know how to use Linux.

So, Dumb win. I know I say that so crud but hey, it's honestly.

Wow,
It gigures, only a linux fan would say something stupid like that. I'm a professional ITperson and I support both linux and Windows, have been doing so for 12 years now for one of the largest banks in North America, certified to support both. As a professional I take the Windows operating system over linux anyday. I can easily support 140 Windows server 2000, 2003 and 2008-they give my very little trouble versus 20 linux machines that need constant tweeking. So I'm an idiot for preffering something that works versus something that clearly is fad? LMAO....

Thats myth!

Linux and Unix use by plenty of business, much more than you realize!

Most business prefer Linux or Unix because of cost, the M$, if want set up M$ ICS server, the license cost easily over $1,600 just for one machine alone! While Linux cost zero.

Since Linux and Unix is open source, meaning you CAN re-write the source, you can turn this OS to anything you want. Once the source is re-written, most virus programs can not attack the computer.

Plus Linux is now getting much friendlier, have you seen Kubuntu 9.0 yet? It blew my head already.

This is just so funny, the OS may be cheaper or free but you have to hire alot more people to support them. The reason they are less susceptable to virus is a myth. They are just attacked less because they are not as popular as Windows.

*yawn*

I can get it for free through my university's MSDNAA program. That's how I got Windows, Windows Server, Office, and enterprise software, all free - no charge for me.

*points and laughs at those who pays*

HA HA,
Once you graduate, quit, leave or whatever it is you do in the MSDNAA program you have to stop using all of them. "points and laughs right back at you"

Linux has changed alot and much much better! I love Kubuntu 9.0, it is almost as good as windows! Alot easier now. And soon or later it will be alot easier than Micor$oft windows!

I use Fedora 11 for my ASUS notebook and it work like flawlessly.

It does include WiFi and graphic card drivers.

I had tried Ubuntu 8.04 and too quite complicated but I will try 9.04 in later.

Only real IT for many years will know about Linux vs Windows. :) I am agreed with you.

Linux have few weakness that Hacker can hack by creating new User name and Password then get in. It is still in development stage and constantly improving. What more do you know? I'm sure AD Moderator will tell you that their Tuxbox server been hacked or infected several times if I can remember what they mentioned on posting last year..

IMHO, it's much secured to have password request when trying to enter program that require Administrator usage. I don't mind typing up password and log in when requesting for Security Update when it popped up or adjust screensaver ect.. I don't know what more if Hacker can gain access and wreck my Ubuntu :giggle:

Right? :aw:

Nah.

Nice try. Once I have the software activated and I have made backup copies of the downloaded ISO files ..... oops!

You have been outsmarted by me again. So there.

And oh, FYI, a friend told me (with validated evidence) that he can still access his university's MSDNAA account - and he graduated from college 2 years ago!

*double points and double laughs at ya*

Got any more to outsmart me, dumbass? 'Kthxbye.

I could careless about you got free stuff so you still have no luck as us does.

I really like win seven os than XP or VISTA.. so Oct 22, i cant wait to pick copied window7 up at mail for free.

For Lunix is still sucks, there is no way programs include games install on lunix/ Ubuntu! many developers wont make programs for lunix/ Ubuntu. no wonder, Ubuntu is freeeeeee, no charge.. I did gave a try it on my pc. I realized that Ubuntu really become dull and bored as fast in few days because programs cant install. I ended up uninstall it from my pc. I have seen my friends had lunix/ Ubuntu running their pc and ended up to crash their pc. and it mess with window like got death blue screen.

I stick the OEM window os for an eternal life! Because I AM A PC.

Mod's Note:

Allright, you guys - let's play nice. We sure don't want to see this thread locked,

Thank you.

wrong. they attacked less because:

1. every linux OS is not the same
2. every linux OS is configured differently
3. every linux OS with security hole is patched up very quickly whereas it takes months for security patch for windows

:)

strange. My friend is the network security and IT administrator for university and major financial firm. he picks Linux/MacOS over windows anytime, anywhere. He single-handedly replaced entire university's IT infrastructure (windows-based) with linux OS. He can easily configure the network & server to anything he likes.... something that you cannot do in Windows-based environment.

YMMV

not at all.

same here! I graduated and I was able to access into Microsoft page for a year. I got everything I needed. :cool2:

I dare Microsoft to make a PC computer and build Windows OS from the ground up and kill all of the PC clones out there....that's the only way to make things run smoothly. Apple is one of the major companies in the world that makes the OS and makes computers which is why they generally run smoothly with less headaches.

Well, I do understand about your frustration with Linux OS and you just need someone to help you with Linux like I did, I was very frustrated with Linux at first place and GUI seems not too shine, unlike Mac OS X and Vista, it is more like XP with dull background so you can custom the background.

There's many softwares are already support on Linux for free so you have look on online, none of Linux software are in retail store, it is very different from Windows or Mac OS X.

I can't blame you for remove the Linux but I believe that Nathan can help you if you are interest in.

Linux and Mac are part of PC. :D
