Multiple VP setup

Yeah, I can see it and it makes sense. I can even imagine it with a modem and router in one adding the switcher in what deafaussie referred to.

DeafAussie, Prefect! Make sure that obtain "IP address automatically" on IP address setting of network instead of "192.168.0.125" in your Sorenson VP200.

I am sure that deafaussie knows what to do with the multiple VP set up.

Well, I bought Netgear giabit 5 port switch and had setup my network as suggested in picture displayed in this thread.

It worked everything I had expected but one little flaw I had recently discovered. MVP was able to receive calls from an IP address assigned to it but not the Purple number, All black screen.

However, I called tech support and they had tried everything and had failed. they think it has something with the HOVRS systems causing my MVP to go black screen.

I questioned them if it has to do with the switch. No, this switch is transparent and has nothing to do with it.

G'Day, DeafAussie! You don't need second public ip address and another switch. I had heard about good news from my Purple Communications. New firmware update will be coming up for your MVP soon. The new port forwarding setting will allow us to have both VP200 and MVP working on a same router. Don't need to use DMZ. No more deciding which videophone will be a primary device. Your headache will be reducing. :)

yikes

After spending 6 dollars more for 2nd IP address and also 40 dollars for the switch. I can feel the headaches starting to get worse.

Sighs,

 Should have waited. Now that way people will be happy to have both MVP and VP-200 working at the same time. :cool2:

I glad to hear about new firmware update for the port forwarding. umm... After downloading on MVP, it will able work on any wifi hotspot or not ?

Since Panera wifi still does not work on my MVP except web browser. I did call Panera wifi help desk and told them I had problem with MVP. Panera wifi is not working the video on my MVP. I believe that MVP really need port forwarding from any wifi hotspot. They at Panera wifi help desk has discussed about port forwarding for MVP.

I hope the issue will resolved for that.

 If you got new firmware update for your MVP and setting up port forwarding, you can call your internet provider to cancel 2nd IP address service and may return your switch to store. :D

You should use DHCP only on your mvp for any wireless hotspot. Not static

Yes, i was talked to Purple Rep yesterday. I asked them to help meh out with those Dlink Router because my vp-200 is broke so i have to waiting to trade a new one. By the way, I ask them that i do not wanna to get an extra ip address. I have to pay my cable company every almost $60 per month and if i want to get extra, will cost me about $20 but i told them no way i not need other extra ip address because it's would cost me about $80, that's too much! Right now, Purple Rep sayin, they will working on open port forward because i want MVP, Vp-200, and OJO(snapvrs) receive calling at same time. So i don't have to working it on D-link all the time! I am thinkin abt buy a switch for my Computer, laptop, ps3, videophones, and will get a xbox360 soon.

what?! i ask you a question, if i use Dlink wireless (Wifi) in my house that's mean i have to choice on DHCP?! My mvp is disconnect because of we have to change something with Dlink Wireless. I don't have time to call MVP because they took me so longer, tho!

No No. You set up same Static ip address and port setting on Ethernet and Wifi tab at your home.

New firmware update on mvp and set up new port forwarding in your home wireless router only. Not wifi hotspot like coffee shop, hotel. etc. You MVP could be either on Ethernet or WiFi on this router in your home.
