I had someone call my CI audi to inform her that I'm still overly sensitive and dizzy from some loud sounds I am hearing. I'm wondering when or if this is ever going to end.

Sorry about that :( Unfortunately I can't be much of help, accept for a

JL

Thank you both for the hugs. I need them because I'm so frustrated right now and don't understand why this is happening.

Is there anything you can do to remedy the dizziness? Besides reducing the loud sound? (which is rather obvious probably... and which makes me sound ridiculous)

Was your audi able to help you at all with that?

JL

Hear again, I do know how funstrating it is. I am tiny bit over senstive to loud sounds (environmental only) but as i only had this map for one month Audi and i agreed to leave as it is and learn to bear with it as I have just started to get used to the loud sounds also hearing people would have same problem anyway but as for dizziness... i think another visit to audi is needed... wouldn't want you to feel that way. Wish I was closer so I can take you to Audi straight away...
Has anyone reduced your sensitivty yet??

Jamie,

My audi turned all of the frequencies down several notches, but some sounds are still bothering me. They cut right through me like a knife and cause me to become dizzy/lightheaded. Depending on the sound, sometimes it reverberates in my head.

I can't get in to see my audi because of where I'm at right now, so I'm afraid that will have to wait. I haven't had anyone lower my sensitivity level, but I don't want to do that only because it may make it more difficult for me to hear and understand speech. I can't lipread, so I need speech to be as loud and clear as possible.

I also wanted to mention that I have autosensitivity on my maps. All of the 4 programs I have on my processors are identical so that I don't have to worry about switching between them.

:( Sorry... that really sounds bad... I guess I would have to imagine it like a very high-pitched, shrieking sound that goes through my bones to get your feelings... that's just bad :(

Maybe Charlotte can help you little bit better... I can only give you  and a supportive shoulder to cry on when you feel down :)

Perhaps, CI isn't for you?

CI doesn't work for everyone.

Hope you get better soon.

Umm, thats interesting... I was able to understand speech better with sensitivty down... right umm.. I am trying to help and understand your problem...

is it the environmental sounds too loud? What or where?? sometime ruling out things helps you to identify what's causing the problem.. and you can avoid those if possible until you are sorted out.
is the speech too loud?
Are you able to turn one of program's senstivity down so you can use one or other bit more comfortable?

can you turn one off and the other one turns on to see how you feel about it. i used to have two HAs that causes me dizzy often. So i turned one HA off and it feels OK. i have one HA now and the other HA is broken.. i havent bought the new HA since now.

That's a really good idea, Frisky. I think I'll turn my left CI off only because that's the CI I don't understand speech as well with. Thanks for the suggestion! :)

Because of the CTS in my hands, I can't adjust sensitivity myself. I could have someone here do it for me, but I'm afraid of having another person handle my processors, so I'd rather not if it all possible.

Everything is loud. Voices. Doors closing. People laughing (this especially bothers me). People coughing or sneezing. All of these sounds travel right through me.

I really don't know, Vampy. I don't understand why this is happening all of a sudden. I also don't understand this since I was born hearing and could hear for most of my life.

That's exactly what it feels like. Almost like a shockwave in my head.

I hope everything goes better! CI definitely requires many adjustments. My eye was twitching before, especially when there was high frequency sounds. They reduced the high frequency and the eye twitching has stopped. The high frequency has slowly been increasing back to where it was, and my brain has adjusted to it.

That's a good suggestion.

I used to wear 2 hearing aids years ago when I was a kid. I was always getting headaches from my right hearing aid. Even with only a hearing aid in my right ear, I still got headaches. When I wore only one in my left ear, everything got better. So, I only wear one in my left ear. :)

I'm so discouraged right now and am afraid that my audi will be frustrated with me. :(
