Banned members

I agree with some of members here, it's none of your business or anyone's business to know why they were banned.

Do we as alldeaf members deserved to know why certain members get banned so that it would serve us good purpose to not get banned?

I say yes.

Moderators already said in the past you can approach them in private to ask/discuss the issue if you have got special concerns . Or If you just want to know what happened, you may PM somebody whom you think might know it. Beyond that I do not think public exposure is going to help anybody.

Yep I agree with you that it is none of anybody's business to know why a member/s got banned.

Yes I second that and also agree with Jacob, too.

I sometimes wonder why some ADers got banned suddenly soon after we made posts on the same thread. It got me  because I do not see anything that they insult/bash anyone but I choose to say NOTHING and keep quiet myself.

The banned members were playing Monopoly and they drew a "Go to jail" card. That's why they got banned..they have to wait for their turn to get out of jail.

You are funny :)

But I hope you wont come here saying :"You stopped on my thread now you have to pay me rent " next

Oh shoot...better go and find ways to earn money just in case!

I don't think it is any of our business why members get banned. The Scarlett letter days are supposed to be over.

That's because, some of their posts are deleted or removed. It's why you can't read them to know what happened or how it happened.

I agree with some of you that it's not necessary to know WHY they were banned or ARE banned. It's best to leave it unsaid and move on. :)

Interesting question....

Half of me says 'yes', half of me says 'no'.

Yes in terms of reinforcing the rules as a gentle reminder to all of us. Don't need to divulge who the poster is.

No in terms of respect to the banned poster.

And my other question is: can we question the Moderator's decision in banning the said poster? You know the bumpersticker that says "Question Authority?"

I know that many of us in the Deaf community always question authority especially if they are hearing but isn't that applicable to us as well?

I say yes.
Members are usually banned for breaking the alldeaf rules. If you want to know how to not get banned it's simple, obey the rules.

Also the mods usually remove the offensive posts and that is why you might not see the reasons in a given thread. The mods follow protocol and I am confident they are fair about it. If you want to find out why a given person is banned you can PM them if/when they return and they might share that information with you.

Agreed. I actually admit that I do curious about it sometimes, mostly, I don't know what happened so "move on" option is only the best way... but I sometimes do not want to know if they're banned too.

I think we can all cop to being curious. :giggle:

It's human nature to want to hear gossip or what not, but like you said, the best way is to either move on or if you really want to know, you can PM that person and ask them in private. That is different than purposely making it a public spectacle, which I think should not be done.

Also, this topic has been discussed not once, but twice. It is no need to discuss necessary explaination on why - there are threads buried in the forum. For the best of all - leave it to the team.

Exactly. This topic *has* been hashed over before, so what you said! :cool2:

I agree with you, Jacob.

There ya go! :laugh2:

Too funny, Shel!

Heh heh I think so :hmm: :D

Indeed, I'm with ya. So true... :) Oh, yes. I really think it's a nice way to do it in a "private mode", too.

No offense against anyone here, this forum is most restrictive of any forum I've been in.....but if the rules are there for a good reason, and get broken...

maybe that's why this forum lives on for a long time... unlike others. Forum with lax rules usually tend to die out fast because of immature fuckers with their flaming, off-topics, pissing contest, etc. Good Riddance!

Keep up dictatorship work, mods! :cool2:

Dictatorship ? I guess, you should live in North Korea. :laugh2:
