Product Names

bloody phreak from hell
There are a lot of products out there that people often label incorrectly.

This is usually because of the popularity of that product that it becomes a common name.

Have you ever done that before?

Here are a few examples:

Depend is actually a brand name for adult diapers.

Kleenex is actually a brand name for facial tissues.

Q-tips is actually a brand name for cotton swabs.

When I was growing up, I always referred to all facial tissues as "kleenex" and all cotton swabs as "q-tips". When I got older, I started seeing these products for myself and taking to time to actually notice what they really were. That's when I realized that those were actual brand names and not products. For instance, I bought the store brand of cotton swabs and noticed that it didn't say "q-tips" on it.

Anyone ever grow up or spend years referring to one thing as another cuz they thought that was the actual name for it?

Yup.. I always thought Coke was Coke. No matter what my Mom bought. Pepsi, Coke or any other store brand cola. I grew up calling it Coke.

I still call it Q-tips regardless of the brand.

Yup it's true, it's like our habit from growing up saying the same thing. I tend to call the Mr. Bubble bath bubble, "pink bubble!"
