ST. ALBANS, Vt. -- A family says their baby saved their lives when their home caught fire in St. Albans.

Dale and Susan Perry woke up early Wednesday morning when their infant, Tasha, began to cry.

When they went to check on the child, they smelled smoke and knew their house was on fire, said Chief Gary Palmer, of the St. Albans Fire Department.

"The house had no smoke detectors up in the attic area, but the baby started crying. I i don't know if it was because of smoke or if the fire was dropping down into her room," he said.

"I don't know what woke Tasha," said Susan Perry. "I just thank God she woke up."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The fire started in a room on the third floor of the house that is used for sewing.

Very lucky for Family to save lives from Baby Crying.
