This area of AD is for people to discuss HA & CIs hence title (Technology, Personal Experiences & Brands). While you are on a crusade can you bring any of that to the discussion? Some of us here are interested in the above mentioned subjects.

this part of ad is for anyone to participate int he discussion. these technologies don't exist in a vacuum and obviously touch and affect their end users...

so

i participate here like you do..

as for my crusade. im curious..
how many posts of CI topics and threads have i started?
how many posts on CI topics and threads have you started?

how many CI videos have i posted?
how many CI videos have you posted?

crusade indeed/...

i understand authoritarian personalities have a hard time accepting others difference sin opinions or even allowing others to actually state those opinions...
but freedom means that must happen..
so breath ti deep cnice...
freedom
its good for you

all opinions regarding CI are permitted to be discussed here..
freedom

Curious. ... the title different on your device? For it seems quite clear to me that it is for HA and CI... but it does not say you have to support them to say anything in this thread...
As for being interested in the topic... hmm maybe you have been sleeping, but those for it are not the only ones interested in the topic...

Before you and Hoichi arrived, there was a clear rule that Deaf had to stay out of the CI threads and not harass them. Of course neither of you could know this, but Alex had made it very clear he didn't want us in these.

Rule probably still stands but is ignored

First I am reading about it... but personally that is very close minded and rude rule... do the Deaf have their own area? How about blacks, natives, females and other minority groups? Even the LGBT thread does not require those that do not identify within LGBT community to stay out...

i read the rules as posted in this section
i just read them again to make sure.

it doesn't state no Deaf allowed..or even No anti Ci opinions not permitted.
i maybe missing something though..

having stated that..
is it actually wise to have the culture and community of the end users of a given product kept out of discussions of that given product?

as an example
do natives have a right to state their concerns of uranium mining occurring on native land?
even though they themselves wont be usign the uranium?

or
do native communities in canada have a right to state their concerns over oil pipelines close to or being pushed on reserves?

or in keeping with big pharma and products
do poor communities have a right to state their views on the illegal drug trade and those entities who push thso products into their communities even though they themselves might not be using those products..?

so on so forth..

but those are some examples...of a minority culture who obviously are interacting with multi nationals on a number of levels in regards ot their culture..and affects of products on them

Really no need to give me attitude. Why don't you pm Alex and ask him how he feels about it these days?

I didn't write the rule, I'm one of the Deaf warned off.

these are the rules

post one.

We, the moderators, are very well aware that Cochlear Implant issues are VERY controversial and sensitive amongst the deaf community. We do understand the severity of this issue and it do invoke frustrations, anger and the world of negativity in our souls, however We are NOT here to declare war on one's personality, one's experience or one's whatever. We are here to DISCUSS the subject itself.

For example I would express my opinion as:

"I think Deaf child should not have an implant because it doesn't allow that child a freedom to...."

Rather than saying:

"I think you are a misfit because you forced your deaf child to have an implant...."

or

"your credentials doesn't qualify you to.."

If we see this negative activities continue in any thread, we will start to track users who do that and will start handing out warnings and eventually ban if our warnings are ignored.

We want this place to be a good resource for those who wanted to listen to both sides and to express their experience and to allow unknowns to make a decision on their own rather than to attack them away. We are here to provide the positive image of the deaf culture, not to make it look like a war machine!

post 2

This is a reminder for AllDeafers who may need to revisit the sticky posted a long time ago for discussions that stem from this section. LinuxGold has done a summary in the original post for some of what the moderators look for.

While we welcome constructive discussion, debates, we are also not officials that represent what our users post on AllDeaf.com. A small memo as always, deliberately provoking, deliberately attacking, deliberately harassing other members is not tolerated at all from anyone regardless of any status they hold. When objectionable posts or threads are seen, we will take appropriate action with the necessary response highlighted from the additional forum rules outlined by the Administrator, Alex. If the user has forgotten it, they are encouraged to revisit and refresh themselves. The sections that we notice are frequently relevant to actions applied from this forum category are bolded for convenience.

Here are the basic ground rules that will be enforced on the Forum. First of all, the Administrator and Moderators reserve the right to remove, edit or move posts without explanation. If you have any questions, please contact me at webmaster@alldeaf.com

1.) Members are not allowed to make posts that are discriminating, racist, threatening, hateful, or include links to pornography or warez.

2.) NO SPAMMING. Members may not use the forums (PM, signature, etc.) to solicit users for private, public or commercial gain. This also includes advertising other forums of the same nature.

3.) NO TROLLING. A troll is someone who provokes members into flaming discussions by posting outrageous messages, and usually ends with name callings and flame wars.

4.) Members using images as signatures and/or avatars are to use JPG or GIF format only. Only 1 image is allowed per signature, and must be 50KB or less in file size.

5.) Members are not to have multiple accounts, only one account per person is allowed. If you want to change your username, please send a request via PM.

6.) Members are not to request for removal of their accounts unless they have a very good reason. If you simply change your mind and want your account removed, I'm sorry but that's not going to happen.

7.) Members are not to make double posts. Select the correct forum and post in there once. Double posts will be removed by the moderators.

8.) Members may not scroll unnecessarily. Scrolling can refer to the following:

a.) Excessive quoting
b.) Excessive smilies, pictures
c.) Marquee images, text (scrolling horizontally)
d.) Anything that is repetitious

9.) No bashing, flaming, harassing or being rude to other members. Period.

10.) No enticing or provoking other members to cause them to get into trouble.

11.) Absolutely no copying and pasting private messages from AllDeaf on here or another site unless permission was granted by the other party.

11.a) Provide a link/source whenever 'copying and pasting' contents from any form of the media. We take copyright infringement seriously. For more info, visit this link.

Ban terms are highlighed in the original post, here.

Finally, a reminder of the disclaimers given to every user who joins a forum:
Forum Rules

Registration to this forum is free! We do insist that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below. If you agree to the terms, please check the 'I agree' checkbox and press the 'Register' button below. If you would like to cancel the registration, click here to return to the forums index.
Although the administrators and moderators of AllDeaf.com will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and neither the owners of AllDeaf.com, nor Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. (developers of vBulletin) will be held responsible for the content of any message.

By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.
The owners of AllDeaf.com reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.

When a new user registers on the website, they agree with the following disclaimer and abide with the rules once again highlighted above for their convenience.

We hope this reminder serves meaning once again when users join discussions in this forum section, and we will continue to moderate and take appropriate action when seen.

as per post one re rules...

it states both sides are welcome here..
that by default means more then the PRO CI will get you into heaven crowd..

both sides i would understand to mean both those in favour of cI (in all its flavours) and those who are opposed to CI (in all its flavours)..
can share their opinions..

Ah... none of that was meant with attitude... not even any sarcasm :) just my thoughts on the subject... as for Alex, he has been around much in the last two years that I have been on and has never said anything about it... figure about when he throws a sticky out to tell Deaf to not enter it then I will consider it a rule... no disrespect to you, I do know you have been around awhile... but Alex has not said anything in the last 2 years about it...

3, 9, and 10 are heavily ignored... but Botts did say she was one of the Deaf that was warned off... you also notice no real rule about political talk either...

Hearing Aids & Cochlear Implants
Opinions and experiences about hearing aid or cochlear implant, and how it affects one's life.

alos calvin though no longer a mod up till three weeks ago
and i also had had interactions with calvin in regards to this topic a mere week before he was no longer a mod.

NO time ever did calvin state no other opinions besides pro CI can be stated or discussed here.
i even asked him straight..
and his response was
"just to take it easy on the threads"
that does not mean
"only one opinion and that opinion of pro ci can be stated in that forum.

having stated the above..

even if i was pro CI, ill never understand the urge people have to shut other opinions up and to censor other opinions form being shared. even if those opinions are contrary to my own..

looking at the world presently those societies who have strict s=censorship laws such as north korea never seem to be a society one would want to emulate...

in discussions or real life for that matter.
freedom is always the better option then tyranny
noth in real life and in the sharing of opinions
no matter how different they may be
particular if its a community..

rather then move to shut up other differing opinions, its more conducive in the development of understanding to actually explore those opinions..

then again im a radical lover of freedom so...

fascists and authoritarians of course will have their take which is the contrary one.

To the OP:

Please consider there might be an other underlying problem - that has nothing to do with not wanting to hear or CI itself
but something entirely else.
Being migraineur myself, it occurred to me perhaps your child might suffer from headaches too, and sometimes the constant sound
or loud sound triggers exactly that - a headache. perhaps she recently started making the connection: loud - ear hurts - head hurts
and that may be the reason she starts avoiding wearing the CI.

whatever the problem is, it's worth investigating not only from the CI angle but any health matter angle.
Please check her ears, check if she doesn't have headaches. hope that helps.
