Is it worth to be "oral"?

Have I ever claimed to represent everyone? No. Have I ever made any statements/assertion that I claim is true for the whole group? No. So GTFA and think of a better retort than that. I do feel sorry for DeafDyke that she had the experiences that she had, but I do not feel sorry for highlighting...

    Have cochlear implants helped you?

What DeafDyke is doing is not sharing her experiences. What she is doing making sweeping statements about anyone and everyone who uses HAs and CIs and oral languages. I'm not against her doing the first, I'm against her doing the second and doing it every-****ing-where. Deal with it. I don't...

    Have cochlear implants helped you?

Same! I kind of got rude on the other thread going all-hell-unleashed about her consistently attacking people who are mostly oral. :S

Ambrosia - is your cochlea 'abnormal' or something like that? (Sorry I don't mean to use a negative word like that but couldn't find an adequate substitute)

Is it worth to be "oral"?

Awesome that you kept at it. I gave up playing the piano when I was a teenager as I basically either wanted to be watching telly, playing outside or (later on) working for more money by working on the after school cleaning crew. I had no pocket money :-( Lmao.

Is it worth to be "oral"?

Sorry, didn't see this earlier. Will emphasise, as you cannot read apparently, this sentence I wrote: "They ALL speak great. Some of them do sign as well. And they've not sacrificed their ordinary education for speech therapy time at all." No, I am not against advocating for sign language for...

Is it worth to be "oral"?

I know a Deaf woman who has heard nothing in her life, is fluent in sign language, and can speak perfectly well. It was a shock to me to see that she never wore hearing aids, but learnt how to speak using vibrations from another's throat.

Is it worth to be "oral"?

Yep I have. Shite school. Shite staff. You were a bloody lucky kids if you got accepted to the mainstream program at a city high school, as several of my friends were. Thanks bro. You play pretty well, how long have you been playing? Can you play other instruments? I also feel fortunate to be...

Is it worth to be "oral"?

Sorry for the late reply. Hey guess what? I'm not 'parroting' the "OMG it's so wonderful..." line. I'm saying that it's what it is - being oral has allowed me to live life, to make friends and flat with other hearing people, to have better job prospects, heck to even bitch and yell at one of my...

Is it worth to be "oral"?

Why is it "emulating"? Have you considered the fact that most deaf kids come from hearing parents? What's wrong with children knowing their parents language(s) if there is a way to access it via cochlear implant/hearing aids. Sometimes that doesn't work and of course the main language should be...
