OK, sorry, I couldn't help the stupid title. ;)

But I remembered suddenly that I'd promised my father to do some research about this.

My great grandmother, who is 95 years old, has lost all of her hearing now. This is creating a real problem for others communicating with her. They can write things down, but this is not so easy for her son (my grandfather), who has had a stroke and his coordination is poor. Even typing is excruciatingly difficult for him.

Are there any good speech-to-text devices that would work for a situation like this? What do I need to know in order to make a good decision?

I really don't know what's out there. But it would mean a lot if you guys could tell me something about this, because you'd be helping a son and mother to communicate much more easily. :)

Try Dragon Dictate or Deepspace9 they both convert speech to text.

Thank you for your suggestions.

I just looked at Dragon Dictate. I'm not sure my grandfather would be able to use that, because he doesn't have a laptop to take when he goes to visit her.

Do you have a link to Deepspace9, by any chance?

(BTW, whoever created that one watches the right TV shows! ;) )

:wiggle: You may want to go online RoseImmortal and check out Harris Communications to see if they have this specific device you are looking for. I hope you find it!

Thanks, I just tried there...I really don't know what I'm looking for and I feel like a major idiot. :(

I'm beginning to wonder if the sort of device I'm looking for exists, that can be used with no laptop and not a lot of typing (due to my grandfather's physical issues).
