Calif. Mudslide
Area Already Ravaged By Wildfires

POSTED: 7:25 am PDT October 18, 2005
UPDATED: 7:41 am PDT October 18, 2005

BURBANK, Calif. -- Thunderstorms hit an area ravaged by wildfires, leading to a debris-laden mudslide in Southern California.

The landslide triggered by heavy rains sent mud, rocks, and tree limbs roll down a Burbank, Calif., street, causing authorities to bar residents from entering the area Monday afternoon.

As the rain subsided, residents were allowed to return to their homes, but only on foot, said Burbank police Lt. William Berry.

No damage to homes was reported, and there were no injuries, but some vehicles were damaged.

Police said Tuesday morning they were not sure when Country Club Drive would reopen to vehicle traffic, especially because of continuing rain on Tuesday.

Mother Nature must be piss off about something...
Ack!!!!

Yeah

Pissed off that we' been encroaching her sacred covens and exploiting her limited resources and polluting her atmosphere.

Soon she will rear her ugly end upon us like in the Day After Tomorrow movie.

Yeah I like that movie...

I wonder if we will ever have to live in Ice Age... chuckle

It's sucks but at a same time, it's fun to live in the state of California.

We have experience weird living way here: earthquakes (aah, it has been there for years), wild fires, strange thunders, crazy rain, and HAIL! Some strongest winds. We also experienced our first baby tornado in Long Beach, California...now it's a teenager which ripped the roofs off the mobiles. It's better not be. And boy, weather does drive people looney-tunes. Crimes go up. ARGH!!!!!!

not surprised...Seattle had the fair share of ALL of the weather patterns in 24 hours...no I'm not kidding....snow, rain, wind, thunderstorm, sunny then warmer next day....it was WILD! It would be scary if I see a tornado rip thru Seattle...

And, there's 3 different mountains that started wakin' up and brewin' in Alaska. I believe it is near Anchorage ....somewhere. Wonderin' if the West Coast is goin' to be prepared for a major earthquake... hmm ?

Memphis's weather most of the time is calm... sometimes rain, few time snow...

Just don't live in Rednecks' neighborhood. :thumb:

Weather in Memphis is unusual nice.
Last year we had snow and ice...

It feels like spring. :P
It is 54 degrees.

So I guess we might have more hurricanes hitting florida and gulf. Is God punishing wicked people? I guess Pat Robertson is right. :(

Lately its been warm in the Southland and that makes the heating blanket Santa just got me useless!

Nah, it is normal. I remember when I was a teenager, I went to the beach in January cuz it was hot day back then. It comes back this time of year again. Pat Roberson does not know what he talks about.

sylvia browne, and yes i believe sylvia browne, she said the reason all this stuff is happening, all these hurricanes tornados and tidal waves, the reason its happening is because of all the stuff we've done to the earth. u know, put all this pollution into the air and stuff, and so mother nature is like whippin our ass for ruining her earth.

Well I haven't felt winter.... I know how winter felt like.... icy finger, butt cold weather... I had to gloves and my lips would blister up sores and I would be scare to walk outside cause I might slip and fall on the ice. Since December 22, winter solitice day.... I haven't wore my long coat to keep my booty warm. And I haven't told my mom "turn the heat up high in car" and I didn't have to spray defrost for windshield... I lived here in memphis all of my life for 35 years and I know this is really an unusual weather.

You can blame it on pollution or on wicked people.... But we gotta be prepare because 2006 weather might not be friendly to us. :nono:

groan.. please don't bring 'God' in this discussion?! God has nothing to do with the weather. Even zillion, trillion years ago, the whole earth was wiped out by Ice Age and there were no people on earth but dinosaurs, mammoths and etc!! They all became extinct because God punished them?!?!
So God HAS nothing to do with the weather.

I don't think there were such thing as ice age....

I thought dinosaurs are reptiles?

Crocodiles, turtles, snakes and frogs won't survive in cold weather.
Because their skins get so dry, they rather be in hot desert or tropical humid places to stay moist.

Dinosaurs would never live on Earth if ice ages exist.... Because of they are cold blooded and their skin would not stand cold.

science vs religion

The Great Ice Age - http://pubs.usgs.gov/gip/ice_age/index.html My point was that the religious people tend to blame the sinners for the freak weather. I disagree with that. The glitch in the Solar System (science), pollution, etc had something to do with the weather. There were freak weather in the 'Dinosaur' time and there were no wicked people back then..

Not all places got iced up in the ice ages. Here's a map. It's the frogs that need to stay moist. The reptiles can live in hot places like deserts.
It was warmer during the Mesozoic than it is now. It was still colder at the poles during their dark 6 month winters. But dinosaur fossils had been found in places that were in the polar region at the time. They found blood vessel structures in dinosaur bones typical of warm blooded animals and feathered dinosaurs with feathers that could insulate them. So maybe some of them were warm blooded.

Hear that Seattle get 26 days (or is that 28?) of rain in row.
