I agree..I believe the punishment should fit the crime. Maybe less people would be inclined to commit crimes against defensless people especially children.

What should bear another look is the peeps who stood by and did nothing. That sicko was married wasn't he - so shouldn't his wife and family friends had noticed something after decades? Personally, I believe those who knew and did nothing - or pretended to not know about this tragedy are as guilty as the rapist. I know this is a harsh view, BUT somebody has to draw the line and show that this is completely unacceptable. We are as sick as the secrets we keep.
